Default Non-quilter pricing question on quilting frames

I know nothing about quilting (other than the fact that quilt my great grand-mother made me is really warm and almost worn out). I found this site via a web search and from looking around, it seemed that it was probable that someone here could help me.

We had to recently move my mother-in-law into a nursing home.

While cleaning out her house, we found 2 quilting frames that are still in the boxes (I do not believe they were ever removed from the boxes).

The frames are:
1. LEEWARDS - Elgin, Illinois
Dexter’s New Improved Quilt Frame
Catalog No. 71-98005

2. Frank A. Edmunds & Co
Chicago 60683
Model: 5561B (I think this is just an "extender" from what I can find)

Can anyone tell me what a fair price (for both my mother-in-law and for the buyer) for either or both of these frames is?

Thanks,

Eric

Did you check Ebay for ideas??

We sold a quilt frame from my late aunts' estate...it was in the original box. I was not quilting at the time. (1999). It was swooped up FAST! I regret not keeping this "heirloom" and I have always wondered if it had belonged to my grandma who died in 1962.

Good luck!

check your area for a local quilt guild- visit the local quilt shop- they may allow you to take pictures and offer them for sale in their shop- our guild has a classifieds section in their monthly newsletter- someone there can probably appraise your finds and help you figure out a fair price.

Sandygirl: I did check ebay, but the only similar frame I found was a year or two old.

ckcowl: I did not know that there were quilting guilds, I will definitely look into that

Thanks,

Eric
