I brought some fabric to work recently. They are planning an event & the theme is Wizard of Oz. So I was showing 2 ladies my Oz collection of fabrics. I was saying I didn't know what I was going to make with it. One secretary said 'but you must have had a project in mind when you bought it'. I said no, I just wanted to have it because if I thought of a project later, I wouldn't be able to find it then.

It's a fabric collection, like coins or stamps or comics. I don't need a purpose for it - it's a collection!

I explained to my DH that my "collection" is really my 401K. When I retire I can draw from it anytime I want and there will never be a shortage even if I live to 400. See I have invested will

I can relate to this , for my two grown children say the same things to me, like Mom why would you ever want more Fabric when you have way to much already, well in my eyes I don't have way to much actually not nearly enough as I don't get to many chances to get out to go Fabric hunting. My Children don't see it that way at all though..

you guys are so very right. At the meet n greet the other day my mom said (at a table of all quilters mind you) That I have way to much fabric because I have on curio cabinet filled with it. The look of that's all that filled faces was great cuz they then informed her round about the amounts they have and I finally got to say SEE I do not have to much fabric, I need much much more before that's even a thought!!! lol thanks just had to share that :)
