Piecemaker I think has moved to Facebook auctions. I don't know how to do those.

Yes, there are a great many FB auction groups now.
You just ask to added and they make you part of the group.
People post things for sale and you post to buy what you want.

I have stuff to list but just not enough time in the day to take the p0hotos and figure out the shipping cost. I like to be able to quote shipping charges up front.

There are just too many rules to keep track of. Not to mention that you're so limited in the prices. I'll have to find the fb auction groups.

Here are the rules for selling here:

I have been toying with the idea of another sale. But life is getting in the way and projects are backing up..

when we started the thrift shop, many years ago, there was nothing [any of us knew of] available anywhere else.
the idea was never to provide a space in which members could sell for profit.
the sole purpose was to provide a space in which we could offer our excess, left overs, tools we no longer needed, etc.

as a thrift shop, the expectation - and requirement - is that items must be priced as you'd expect used/excess things to be in a thrift shop. that is to say, "rock bottom."

as our membership grew, we attracted the attention of a lot of sharks and cheats. real quilters tend to be trusting, generous, and soft-hearted. we also have a lot of members who are new to quilting and who don't have enough experience to know the difference between fair prices and rip-offs. that's why the list of rules got so long.

there are now dozens - if not hundreds - of places online [mostly facebook groups] where people are welcome to sell for profit, or which don't monitor value/price. there's nothing wrong with that; nothing at all wrong with QB members switching to those sites when they have something they want to sell.

it may very well be that our thrift shop has outlived its usefulness.
i keep it open "just in case."
