Nurse plays Doctor
#11
Good resolution. After hip surgery my hospitalized MIL kept telling the nurses she'd feel better if she could just have a good BM. They all smiled and nodded and assured her she was receiving stool softeners. I finally brought the issue up with her doctor. He looked at her chart, he pulled the curtain and looked at MIL. He went into the hall to the nurse station and I could hear him saying words like 'inexcusable', 'unacceptable' and 'just no reason for it'. Despite her complaints no one checked her chart which indicated no elimination for days and days. Her bowels were impacted. Keep up those visits, folks. That way there is someone to speak up for those who aren't able to be assertive/aware of needs.
