Katie and I are quilting Friday and Saturday all day at the church for a local quilt away. Yipppppeeeee. I am not wishing away our days but, man it's been a long winter and long school year. Thanks for listening.

I know just what you mean. I loved summer as much as my kids. Homework can be a killer. My DGD is learning to read in kindergarten. What happened to learning your ABCs and counting.

So many kids are in headstart and/or preschool and are being taught their ABC's, counting, all of the things that used to be taught in Kindergarten back in the day. In my grandsons schools, they would have liked for them to know all of that and how to spell/write their names and much more by their first day of Kindergarten. It kind of puts some kids at a disadvantage if they have not had any preschool experience. It seems that the kids have waaaay more homework now than when my kids were in school. Even the Kindergartener's have sometimes an hour or more every night.

Homework here is a hassle too. My 5th grade DD has a booger of a time w ith math as well. And I am ashamed to admit, I have no clue how to do alot of her math. I have hired a straight A 8th grader to help her in math. I am soo looking forward to summer. Better get a tutor lined up for next year too..

I love to teach math!! (well, and reading, writing and science) I teach 5th grade now, but I taught algebra to GED students years ago. What concepts are you covering now? Seriously--if you get stuck--we could wrok it out via email... mine is on my website below. At least I could make you laugh and avoid a headache.

As a mom I hated it when my kids had homework--so I don't give too much. I'd rather the kids played outside after school. They have to read each night, and might have 1-2 pages of math, that's it. Most days they have time to get math started before they leave so I can help them if they're fuzzy.

Good luck!!
