Mine is about that old....and it was maybe $500 at the time. I'm ready for a new one. Grow, money tree, groooooow!

I went outside plus I waited at least a few hours in between sniffs. Nothing. None and no smoke but just frost. Now I'm wondering if it was my imagination.

Another easy fix you can do is to pull the fridge out and vaccuum the coils on the back.
