i've searched here and on the net but can't find why people use YAY. are they trying to say Yea or Yeah?
i'm beginning to hate shortcuts in grammar. anybody?

When I say "Yay" I mean like "Hooray!" "Yippee!" lol Like jumping up and down excited!

Or, yes, like yea.

Anybody else mean something different?

Yay is when you are excited. Yeah is slang for yes, when you agree with something.

when did the spelling change? I'm getting too old for this.
when i studied history and learned all the Countries of the world i didn't expect them to change so much. maybe i'm just not good with change..... thanks!

I think it may have a lot to do with texting, so they can use shorter text.

I understood the "yay" and "yeah" I didn't understand "idk"= I don't know !! Way to many abbrevations for me. K=OK....

IMHO FYI IDK is OK. Makes it quicker to type. LOL. Yeah and yahoooooooooooooooo. Gotta love them. TTYL
