Hello ladies, I just stumbled across this site today. My dear mother was a fantastic seamstress. She could do it all. She dabbled in quilting from time-to-time. We lost her in 2009 to Alzheimer's. She and my dad lived in Arizona. We recently moved my dad to Ohio to be close to all of us children. In helping him set up his new little condo, we came upon mom's wedding dress that has been preserved in a box for quite some time. My mom absolutely loved children. I'm looking for a place to donate mom's wedding dress. I'd like to find a place that makes wedding dresses into baptismal gowns or burial gowns. I've already heard about "Heavenly Angels in Need" and "Mary Madeline Project," but they are not currently accepting donations as they have too many dresses and not enough seamstresses. Any ideas. Thanks so much.

My Mom just pulled hers out of the basement just intime to celebrate their 55th anniversary and she wants me to cut it up and make keepsake pillows for her daughters, granddaughters and 1 great granddaughter. One of her granddaughters is getting married this year so she wants something made for her to put their rings in or some lace added to her flowers. The only problem is the great granddaughter seen the dress and said.."Great Gram, can I wear your dress someday"!! To funny, she is only 4 years old!

Perhaps I should have been clearer...I'm looking for any referrals to other organizations or sewing groups that take old wedding dresses and make them into baptism gowns or burial gowns for babies.

Check with your local churches. That would be really nice.
