I watched Alex Bilodeau's gold medal run on the moguls last night, it was awesome!

The interview afterwards where he paid tribute to his brother who has cerebral palsy and how he is Alex's inspiration was so touching.

Cheering all the athletes on, each of them regardless of what country they are from have earned the right to be called Olympians! :)

I keep reading about the Olympic happenings...but they aren't posting videos on yahoo.... I'll do a search for them so I can see something--even if it's after the fact.

Hey, I am an avid noridic skier and my kids grew up with the Bill Kock League - occupying Saturdays and Sundays all winter long.

I was literally jumping on the bed yelling "fly fly fly" at Spillaine and Lodwick in the Nordic combined yesterday afternoon.(My DH kept saying calm down - he is going as fast as he can and can't hear you anyway) It was just such an exciting finsih, too bad Spillane got beaten by the French in the last 100 meters. Such and exciting race!!! I think the US finished 2nd, 4th and 5th...amazing. And a first ever for the Ameircans winning a medal in the Nordic Combined.

I think it is the second medal in Nordic events - the last being Bill Koch in 1976 - a silver is cross country skiing. I'm looking forward to more of the Nordic Combine events, they should be just as exciting.

I'm an Olympics "Junkie" ... not a big winter sports participant or fan, but just love it every 4 years. The Nordic combined was awesome yesterday; we were cheering here, too. Still trying to figure out what all the numbers mean on the Biathlon.

Just watched the pairs final ... only word I can use here is "beautiful". Such style, such grace. Fantastic!

Anyone else not quite "get" the snowboard cross thing??? I think my sister gave me the best explanation. She's not much of a sports nut, but goes bananas for NASCAR. When I asked her why she likes it, she told me, "you get in, and go as fast as you can, and be the first one across the line." What's to understand? I guess that's the whole snowboard cross thing, too???

Yeah, the snowboarding is just racing, like speedskating or speed skiing or whatever. I like watching it, watching them balance and maneuver.

I skipped opening ceremonies, didn't really want to watch much this year but the skating. Skating wasn't listed until tonight, so I'm very upset that I missed the pairs short programs last night. I'll have to find better listings than what TV Guide has to be sure I don't miss more of it.

I haven't been as happy with coverage these last many Olympics. They seem to cover only the top skaters now, and they don't tell as many stories about them. I miss the (long ago) old days when all the network stations covered the olympics, and you could switch back and forth among the channels and hear different views and see different films of the competitions. Ah, well.

I'm a big Olympics fan because countries are together for healthy, happy, wholesome competition. I find myself so thrilled for whomever wins although having a personal response does contribute to that, like the story of the Chinese gold winners in Pairs figure skating who had to leave their families as children to learn it, watching the Canadians proudly sing their anthem song on their own soil, and of course watching any USA athlete give it his/her "all" for us! Very fun!

Canada is a beautiful country. Our honeymoon in 1972 was an amazing RV trip from southern California, up the coast to Canada, enjoying the Parks, wild animals, & sights all across it to Quebec, then quickly down to the Florida Keys where we were almost late for DH s new job. Only 4 years ago, we spent a few days in Vancouver so vividly remember Grouse Mt, Stanley Park, Whistler's Mt, the north rainforest with the swinging rope bridge and of course, the city. It's fun to hear NBC tell and show all those places.

Well, now starts the Winter Olympic witdrawal.

The hocey game was great yeasterday as well as the finish of both the men's 50 k. The women's 30 k was great on Saturday - a photo finish after 30 kilometers of skiing is unbelievable.

What am I going to watch tonight??

I guess I'll just get more quilting done!!!

I enjoyed so much of this Olympiad, from the spectacular performances to the friendliness of the people of Canada. I especially enjoyed the first part of the closing ceremonies ... how funny was that? Catharine O'Hara's bit was so cool ... love how she came out with the curling schtick ... and her "slideshow" was pretty cool. Spoken like a mom to the nations. Especially liked how they paid a little tribute to the glitch at the opening ceremonies with the 4th leg of the "cauldron" not rising, then had Catriona LeMay Doan light it since she was unable to do so at the opening. Very clever.

Canadians are one tough and funny bunch of folks. And a very loving, wonderful people. We will miss the scenes from Canada, but thankfully my cable provider gets CBN (Canadian Broadcast Network, I think), so I can get a dose of the Canadian spirit whenever I need one, eh?

Nice job, Canada. Pat yourselves on the collective back. Ya done good, eh.
