The ceiling is leaking halfway between my bedroom and my sewing room. It comes from a light that is not working. I am thankful that it is not dripping on my bed, or computer, or the sewing area. It lands on a small carpet. Right now there is a bowl catching it.

Oh, I'm sooooo sorry! I hope it doesn't ruin any of your belongings. We're anticipating rain for Christmas Eve, followed by freezing rain/sleet/snow for Christmas Day. Sound like a fun holiday? So long as I don't have to drive in it, I'll be happy.

Stay warm and dry (and preferably under a handmade quilt!).

OH NOOOO I will wish it to dry up and become sunny warm CA weather. Stay away from those light switches and keep warm.

Can you switch off that circuit at the breaker box? Sounds like it could cause some electrical damage if not fixed. Good luck!

Ugh, that's not such a small trial. Well, hopefully it turns out to be something easy to repair but who wants to climb on a roof on Christmas Eve (other than Santa).
Good advice to turn off the power to that fixture.

Actually there is no power to that light. The breaker clicked off last week when I tried to iron some fabric. Half the house had no heat, no lights, no tree, and no television. Jim came home looked at it and said the circuit breaker had not tripped, but it still does not work. Jim can't do anything with it as it is still raining, and he has to work tomorrow.

I keep reminding myself that this is not my true home, and I have a mansion waiting for me, but that is in the future.

This really could have been worse. It is directly at my left elbow as I sit here. It could have landed on the computer, OR the quilt I have in a frame just 3 feet away, or even over my bed.

I am very sorry to hear about your leak!!! What a blessing though that the drips are in a place that nothing expensive/treasured was ruined!!! (((HUGS)))

I can certainly empathize and sympathize with you. This is the first year in many that we do not need the bucket brigade. It took a lot of hard work to fix all of the leaks. Please be careful with the electrical stuff. Who knows where that water is coming from (sometimes it takes a rather interesting and long path). Good luck on the patches.
