Default One of my most important food shopping tips ever

Who knew? "One of my most important food shopping tips ever --those annoying stickers on fruits and veggies tell you A LOT! 4 numbers mean they were conventionally grown, 5 numbers starting with number 8 means they are genetically modified (GMO), and 5 numbers starting with 9 means they were organically grown (no pesticides or nasty GMOs)"

This information was sent to me by a friend.....I didn't check it with Snopes................

It is true. I worked for a grocery chain for 16 years. I did the pricing, these codes are international by the way.

Thanks Ditter, and Jan. I always like to use locally grown stuff if I can, and for sure if I can get natural stuff without chemicals, so much the better. You two gals are just great with information for us. Bless you, and keep up the good work. Your "old" pal...... Roberta

Thanks so much. I have a sea food allergy and those genetically modified ones cause me so many problems. They inject fish DNA in the plants to make the vegetables more cold tolerant. You just think that tomatoes are a healthy thing to eat until you find yourself in the ER.
