worth a try..DD's house has ants all over the yard/place..and slugs too. huge slugs!

Salt shaken on slugs will get rid of them, or you can leave saucers full of beer for them to drown themselves in.

If you fill a spray bottle with a mix of cheap dish detergent and water and squirt the ants it will also "do them in". The detergent permeates the waxy coating on their bodies. This is a good fairly ecological way of doing away with excessive numbers. If you have little kids around fill their water pistols or super soakers and let them do it - takes care of the ants and the kids excess energy.
