Default painting cross stitch embroidery, tried it?

My very first quilt was a cross stitch kit, eons ago...
I've kind of got a hankering to do another, but I'd like to try a different technique.

Has anyone painted cross stitch lately? (I know it was popular 30-40 years ago, but the tubes were a booger)

Thank You!

I've done very little of it. My great-grandma did it all the time and let me play with it. I've been toying with the idea of ordering this starter kit to give it a try. I figure I could always do some dish towels for practice. Even if they are ugly they should dry stuff.

Oh I remember "liquid embroidery" ... while I did some of it, I can't say I ever fell in love with it over and above real embroidery!

I didn't know that you could get the supplies again now. I bet the tubes and paints are a lot better now!

I started a table cloth over 37 years ago. I think it is somewhere in my closet now. I haven't looked at it in 25 years. I enjoyed doing the embroidery paints.

Which pens did you use roda? can you share an image?
I have the fine Sukara's for signing quilts but they'd never show up well for something big and I'm not particularly impressed with how they last on signatures. Even heat set on prewashed fabric they fade.

Funny how with our combined brain power it all comes back. I'd forgotten the term liquid embroidery. and Tri-chem I think people sold it like avon and tupperware?

Hobby Lobby has the sets of paint tubes and iron on transfers in the needlework department.
