We have one that pants. She is just "a little" overweight and I always thought that's why she does it.

Kitchen always pants after a hard play session.

I think he is mentally unbalanced as he has a particular toy - a plastic fishing rod with a string hanging from it with a bell on the end - that he is OBSESSED with. I have to hang it from the ceiling light where he can't reach it, as if it was in a drawer or cupboard he would find it (he can open cupboards and drawers). It is a supervised session only toy, as I worry he might chew the bell off and swallow it. Every evening he sits underneath where it is hanging, and STARES at it. If I walk under it, he will jump to attention, waiting for me to reach up for it. He is the only cat I have ever seen JUMP from a stand still to about my shoulder height to try and reach something. Crazy cat!
