Does anyone live in or has been to Paris, France? I have the opportunity to go TOMORROW with my sister who works for an airline. I know there is a quilt shop there that we are making plans to visit. It's owned and run by an American. Considering the cost of the fabric, I don't know how much I'll actually be bringing back with me - probably only a fat quarter or even fat eighth!

Really? Just like that? "Let's go to Paris tomorrow." I'm jealous! You haveto bring back at least a fat quarter. Have a great time!

Have a safe and fun trip.

The french fabric is pricey, but made up of beautiful toiles and classic traditional prints. Figure around $18/yard and up.

If you can get actual FRENCH fabric you'll be spending about 35 Euro and up ($50) a meter. Unfortunately, most of the fabric I've encounter has been American. With the tax rates for importing fabric the price tends to run around 18 Euro a meter for the American stuff (Moda, Kaufman, etc). The exchange rate today was $1=0.67 Euro. I'm a manager at a quilt shop in Germany...I order the fabric for the store and I'm consistently sticker shocked at the fabric in the local shops.
But I hope you really enjoy your trip. Paris is GORGEOUS and you are going to have an AMAZING time. :) And in case you find some phenomenal French toile... it usually helps me to remember that...a meter is about 4 inches bigger that a yard!- Good Luck!

I haven't been but my DD has been several times. She says it's bad in the stores and restaurants because everyone smokes anywhere. She brings back the most delicious jellies and jams.

I would love to go, but it means getting on a plane and that's not happening.
