    phishing scam

I got an e-mail that claimed to be from the IRS, it even showed irs.gov when I hovered over it before I opened it. As soon as I opened it I knew it was not from the IRS because it asked for a reply to the mail including my name, address, and name of my bank. Just a reminder, IRS doesn't send this type of thing and we can all help each other if we report these type of messages. Just forward to phishing@irs.gov.

That's funny. They called me one time on a Saturday. I told him the IRS doesn't call people and especially NOT on a Sat. Hung up. Then they called our business. Good thing the guy had a sense of humor.

IRS doesn't send emails. Any email you receive that asks for SSN and other pertinent information report to SPAM. Be careful opening it, can have virus attached.

You got it now because it's income tax time and they know you might open it out of anxiety or curiosity. They sometimes come purportedly "from your bank", too. They are all scams, trying to get personal info or account numbers. I called my bank when I got one because I know one of the bankers and he told me they never send emails to customers. Very professional looking, though, with the bank logo, the whole nine yards. I detest these criminals !!
