It's getting cold again in parts of the US and the local shelters are crowded.
If you can, please remember to donate new or gently used and clean blankets, coats, as well as canned foods, etc.

Donations was a topic at our Guild meeting yesterday. We had to prioritize our list there is such a need. The women's shelter went to the top.

Thanks for starting this topic--it is much needed! I often work with the local food pantries when I have an abundance of Project Linus blankets. The folks who run the pantries are able to identify the families who are in need of warm blankets, so I leave the blankets with them, as many of the families want to remain anonymous.

I am donating handknit washcloths to a local group. They make up hygiene kits among other things to distribute. Thanks for reminding me that I need to drop them off. I am also starting some little kid sweaters.

Last weekend a local church and the food pantry had their annual "Mile of Cans" food drive. They line the cans up one by one and hope to collect enough to make a mile. They are then taken to the food pantry, sorted and shelved to be used as needed. It grows bigger every year.
