Potato bags

I have used cloth bags made especially to bake potatoes and some other vegetables. Last time I used it caught on fire in microwave. Anyone else ever have this problem? Sharon in okc

You must make sure everything - thread included - is 100% cotton. Have you tried Warm Tater? That is the batting made especially for potato bags and should not catch fire. Sometimes fire is caused by hot spots or potato residue on the bag from a previous "baking." I've had a few complaints of burning (maybe about 20), but I've probably made over 1400 bags!

Scarry! Alot of people accidently use threads ect, made with things beside cotton!

My group did those a few years ago and 1 of them had that problem..she had used a polyester thread!!

I had one burn on the edge one time. But I have used them for years and only had the one problem. I bought it at a craft fair so I assume they didn't use the proper materials. Now I make my own to avoid that problem.

No poly/cotton blend thread or poly...
Also, if the bag gets a little oil or grease on it, it can ignite :wink:
