2 years ago my stepson gave me a laser printer and two extra cartridges - I am still on the original one!! And I do a LOT of printing (postage for online sales). Wish I had gone laser years ago.

I always use off brand cartridges and have for several years. I've had HP, Canon, and Brother printers and no trouble with using the cartridges in any of them. I used inkjetsuperstore.com and one through Walmart but I don't remember the name. No trouble with any of them.

I haven't tried them, but got tired of the cost of the original cartridges. DH and I just bought 2 of the Epson Eco-tank 2550 printers. The refill bottles are only $13. The black is good for something like 4,000 pages. The color is excellent. We bought them at Costco online.

I buy ink on line and refill my own cartridges. I've used the used cartridges from the store before, and the ink was ok but the quality of the print was sometimes not ok. But refilling my own, the quality is good, and it is SOOO much cheaper to do.

I buy the HP cartridges -- I do a lot of printing on fabric and don't want to take the chance of having the colors fade or wash away.

We have the same problem. My son has told me about ESO tank printers by Epson. It comes with a 2 year supply of ink. The printer runs $400.00. We haven't bought one yet but we our considering it. We figure our printer ink is coming very close to costing us that in a year. Just something to consider if you print alot.

Yes and was not happy, the inks ruined my printer heads...very expensive to replace. I now only use the printers brand of ink.
