Default printer tip

Maybe a lot of people know this but it might help someone. My printer was not printing well, I did the automatic "clean" command, still no better. I took out the cartridge and took an alcohol wipe and cleaned the bottom where the ink comes out. Much better now.

What kind of printer do you have? I'm wondering if the brand of printer or printer ink or the age of the printer may play a factor in making it work?

I've been trying to use the store branded versus the printer branded inks and not seeing good results. Is that what prompted you to try the clean command and alcohol wipe?

Inquiring minds want to know!

I have an HP printer, rather old (Deskjet 812C) and used ink that I bought on ebay.

I use the offbrand inks all the time and do not have a problem with them. I use a Brother all in one. I get my ink on the net.

me too, I get the cheapest brand on ebay. Saves a lot over buying the HP brand. Last cartridge lasted almost a year.

WOW, I seem to spend a fortune on printer ink and just when I have bought ink, the printer wants to die on me!! UGH. I just purchased a cheap (inexpensive) Brother and my friend said to buy my ink on Amazon. She has had the same model for a long time and hasn't had any problems with it.

HP printers do not like anything but HP ink and tend to do strange things when given what they don't like. Reminds me of dogs and children.

I have had nothing but HP printers. I use to go get mine refilled at Cartridge world and had no problem until a new owner took over. My old printer bit the dust. I used it A LOT. I just bought a new one again an HP deskjet 3050 . I will need to get new cartridges soon. I am still using the ones that came with it.

I took my ink cartrage to Cosco to have it refilled and after about a week I kept getting message that the cartrage was the wrong one for the printer. What a pain, took it back and they refunded my money so that was good.
