That is how many that has been cancelled due to Irene...just hard to imagine isn't it?

It boggles the mind to think that many flights even happen in that short a time.

It is so heartbreaking. 8 Lives lost already.

Diito... My Mom has a flight coming in from Germany on Monday. I think she may stay in Germany a little longer. She is due to land in Washington DC.

That is but my son lives in Brooklyn and he says the rain has been incredible, so it is much better than taking off in all that mess.

It makes you wonder how many people from those 8000 cancelled flights are stuck in-between as in airports, etc.

Even at this hour, you can see how little traffic there is over the US.

Each red dot is a flight.

Not sure if you have to be signed in to to see that

That is really neat. Flights have been affected here in Buffalo, and we are in no danger from this storm. I live about a mile and a half from the airport, and it has been strangely quiet the last couple of days. I was amazed by the photos on MSN about a completely empty Grand Central station yesterday afternoon. Kinda freaky to see it like that.

Our neighbors were on their way home from CA yesterday and are stuck in Philly, no telling when they will get home. I think if I were them I would have stayed a few extra days in CA until air traffic got caught up. They stay with their son and are retired so I wouldnt think it would have been a problem but who knows .....cant wait to hear about it when they do finally get home.
