Alaska Northern Lights

Some one here a week or so ago posted about traveling to Alaska in mid winter to view the Northern Lights. This came up on the Anchorage Daily News this morning with some beautiful pictures of the Northern Lights from around the state. You will have to Ctrl-click on it to have it come up I believe. I hope you can enjoy it.

They sure are beautiful. I saw them in person when we lived in Anchorage.

The wonders of nature.
If one never travels, one never knows how beautiful everyday things are in different locations.
I've never seen the Northern Lights except in photos.
These were so beautiful.
Thanks for sharing!

I remember the first time I saw the Northern lights. I was in South Dakota (late 2001) at the time. I went outside and looked up, it took my breath away, it seemed almost magical watching the light dance across the sky.

Seeing the Northern Lights is SO on my bucket list! We saw just a hint of them a few years back, which is a very rare occurrence here in western NY state. Thank you for posting that link!

i saw them one night in my condo parking lot here in southern MN ... awesome sight. i was surprised to be able to see them as there is so much surrounding light here. so i imagine that seeing them in complete darkness should be spectacular.

We saw the Northern Lights one time at out cottage in Canada - it was breathtaking. I would love to see it again but still waiting.

When we were kids we used to see them in Chautauqua County, south eastern NY state. Breathtaking!

thank you for sharing. I was there all summer...needless to say, wrong time to see the lights.

Thank you for sharing. Saw the lights over 50 years ago when I lived on a farm in northeast Nebraska. Has to be very cold for us to see them this far south.

I've seen them a few times here on the edge of town, but my daughter in the country sees them often. (both Northern Lower Michigan) These are wonderful pictures.

I live in Alaska, and it doesn't matter how many times you see them, it seems like the first time. They are awesome! I hope all of you get to see them.

When I lived in Northern Ontario, we had the lights- felt like you could reach up and touch them and they crackled.

We have lived in Juneau and Anchorage and now south of Anchorage so we've seen the northern lights. Atmosphere has to be just right and the further south the less colorful. I know people see them in Montana and other northern states. Always an amazement to watch them charge across the sky.
