These images, by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information, are some of the only color photographs taken of the effects of the Depression on America’s rural and small town populations.

I went to school for photography and have never seen these color photos from the 40's. The WPA photos that I've seen, and there are lots of them, were all black and white. These are beautiful!

The color really tells a story that black and white can't. Those pics are amazing. They must have been expensive to make back then.

What a truly amazing collections of what the people of our country were going through. I'm not sure I could have survived, could you?
