In a recent study, Semir Zeki, Professor of Neuroaesthetics at the University College of London has shown that artwork stimulates the same centers of the brain that are active when we fall in love.

His research has shown that looking at an inspiring painting activates reward centers and releases the “feel-good” neurotransmitter dopamine.

Quilting is an Art of the greatest degree. You ladies have color, composition, the quilting stitches you decorate with and technique that is totally yours to employ, just like any "fine art" painter. Some of the quilts I have seen you make are the same quality as a fine artist painting. Even when they might not be, the "heart" that is shown in your work is so apparent!

I have seen museum quality quilts that made me drop to me knees from their intricacy at the Houston quilt festival. Only true artists can do what quilt artists do. Even the exactness in which one joins a seam, (seams are like brush strokes, and running quilting is to me, too) or, the crazy quilting that is sewn by hand or machine, demonstrates the high art value of quilting!!! I knew I got pleasure from seeing what you guys posted and from lusting at Keepsake Quilting over this and that pattern I just have to have, but didn't know that my brain lit up like my heart. Wow! What a study!
