Baby Back Ribs for Breakfast?????
1 Attachment(s)
Not a usual menu choice for me but that is what my Shepherd/Akita BG ate this morning! We have a french door refridgerator and the freezer is at the bottom. She was able to open the freezer door and proceeded to to eat not 1 but 2 full racks of frozen baby back ribs! We had just smoked them on Saturday! I am currently doing a 3 month externship at my vet clinic so off to work she went with me! Her punishment was to sit in the dog run in the hospital part of the clinic all day!!! There have been no complications so far and the vet said that of all the bones for a dog to eat, rib bones are the safest because they are smaller, smoother and don't splinter. There is now a child lock on the freezer and she is none too happy about it!!! Here is BG after she had her "breakfast"

. . . . .and a "smilin" happy girl she is!!
|
Omg, read this to my dh...sorry, but i lmao
|
Oh, my. My dh still tells the story of the German shepherd he had back in the U.K. He had gone grocery shopping, made several trips from the car to the kitchen to unload, put everything away ..... and then couldn't find the beef roast when it came time to make dinner. He had noticed that the dog seemed very lethargic that day, and finally located the plastic wrap. That was all that was left of the roast. (The dog was fine!)

Sometimes our fur babies are naughter then our kids lol
|
The really upsetting part is that the 2 racks she ate for breakfast cost as much as a big bag of her Iams dogfood!!!
|
My dogs know that their food comes from the white box in the kitchen, but they're never tried self serve. The Siberian mix has scarfed thawing packages from the counter. At least she had the grace to give the BC mix hers. There was an empty plastic bag on each bed. Were the beef bones still raw? Or does smoking cook them? Some raw feeders believe in gorging their animals - they are allowed to eat as much as they want every three days or so with nothing in between. Or just light snacks, but I can't do that.
BG is a beauty. And very contented looking. |
My little guy didn't know the happiness of going into the garbage could be until my niece (golden doodle) came over. The two got into the garbage. When I got home, he had the biggest grin on his face. If he could talk,he would've been bragging how wonderful it was. He hasn't gotten into the garbage again, as it is now in a can. As for Doddle.. She's another story.

Naughty dog, but I bet she enjoyed them lol
|
Oh, so funny...gotta love them dogs:)
|
Smart Girl!! I eat Pizza for breakfast, also Chili, and would eat Ribs if there were any left over in Refrigerator! LOL
|
I only had/have small dogs and they can't reach anything. They aren't strong enough to open anything. My bigger dog was an outside dog.
I do have a six year old cat that can open base cabinet doors in my sewing room and drag stuff out. He is just a pain, no food in there. |
Your dog has good taste! Nothing better than smoked baby backs for any meal of the day. I am putting baby backs on my shopping list, its been awhile since I smoked some.
|
She must love those "baby back ribs"!
|
Beautiful dog!!
|
I once had a dog who ate a pound of butter off the table when we were gone. Yuk.

Love my pets. Love my ribs more.:p Jan in VA |
Well, the consequences of eating the ribs have come to fruition!!! BG is experiencing some gastrointestinal issues that are none to pleasant! Of course, it would have been better if she could have made it outside first  !!! Deep breath and repeat after me: I love BG, I Love BG, I Love BG!!!!:D

I used to have a golden and an irish setter, well, everything from a dozen eggs (not even a piece of shell left) to cantaulope would disappear without a trace other than maybe a wrapper or container! lol The setter was the instigator but the golden always joined in. Now I have a shih tzu and still find myself looking around to make sure nothing is left out that is edible, even though I know he can't reach it, old habits!!

Our poor rottweiler/pit bull Frieda got caught when she got the rib roast off the counter because the dish also fell and made a ruckus. She hightailed it into the living room with a shamed look to her, but she went to doggie jail (her outside run) anyhow. She has never attempted it again so I guess she remembers.

You have a very smart puppy!!! my dog will knock his treats off the shelf and just stand there at look at them
|
I had a beagle named Barney. If there was food he would find it. Had to have a lock on the fridge and baby locks on the cupboard doors. He would scoot a kitchen chair over to the counter and use that to get up on the counter. He was too smart for his own good, I loved him dearly and still miss him after 14 years.

I had a German Shepherd fur baby that opened the refrigerator door and ate a whole pound of raw bacon that I had just bought. You just have to laugh and love them despite their naughtiness.
