What do you think is the most reasonable way to ship books and any idea how the average cost for sending a quilt book? I am going to list some for sale and need to get more info...

USPS media rate. 2.50

Another vote for media rate. It won't get there as fast, but is a lot cheaper. If they are buying several thin books, flat-rate priority may be cheaper.

media rates only apply if you are sending to a library or college,,could be wrong,, but thats what I think,, best bet is priority box,, "if it fits, it ships,,"

If you have a handful you can always bring them in to the shipping location and have them weighed so you have an accurate price.

Media rate is tricky. Some clerks will let it go thru and others won't. Just had that happen to me a few days ago. When the clerk asked me what was in there I said a book then she said what kind of book so I said a quilt book, and she said it can't be sent media so I sent it USPS Flat Rate Envelope. A few weeks ago, the clerk asked me what was in there and I said some books and it went thru. And the post office can open it if they feel it is not the correct media being sent. Any of the USPS Flat Rates are best, parcel post or first class mail, whichever is cheaper. Good luck!

I've mailed out several quilt mags and books lately and they all went media mail. It was cheaper than flat rate. Our PO also stamps it media mail even if I have fabric in with a mag or book.

I agree!

Oh and don't forget, the shipping rates vary from zip to zip. An example: I sent a 24 lbs. box via UPS to GA for $17. Sent the same weight to TX and it was $27. UPS was cheaper than USPS.
