Does anyone know where I can buy a box that is big enough for a baby quilt and a few PJ'S..

I have to wrap a gift and I think it looks so much better in a box them just a gift bag..but where to buy one?? Thanks :)

Airwick156 07-13-2011 12:26 PM

You can get brown boxes from UPS, or one of those mail houses that rent out mail boxes to people. They are only a buck or two. :)

auntpiggylpn 07-13-2011 12:31 PM

I was just thinking the same thing today. I'm giving a quilt as a wedding gift and I wanted a white gift box to put it in.

Jennifer22206 07-13-2011 12:35 PM

at Christmas time, buy the super big ones. I must look like a nut, I but TONS of them. The largest they have.

SuziC 07-13-2011 12:39 PM

I usually get my boxes at the dollar store (pkg of three)
The large ones are big enough for a baby quilt.

auntpiggylpn 07-13-2011 12:41 PM

I think I will stop by the dry cleaners tomorrow to see if they have quilt size boxes and if they will sell me one. They put wedding gowns in them and they would be acid free!

mom-6 07-13-2011 12:41 PM

Most office supply stores and copy centers have boxes too. Sometimes the smaller 'mom & pop' ones will have the ones their stuff came in and will charge only a very nominal fee for these boxes.

Michaels and Joanns have some beautiful boxes that can be used as a decoration after they take out the quilt. I bought a lovely one from Joanns for 14.99 and used a coupon and got 40% off. The lap quilt fit in beautifully.

donnajean 07-13-2011 12:55 PM

Our local Dollar store has gift boxes.

auntmag 07-13-2011 12:58 PM

Walmart has boxes in the stationary dept.

laughingquilter 07-13-2011 01:14 PM

Sounds like a good excuse to buy a new pair of shoes! "Honey, I needed the box!!" LOL

patski 07-13-2011 01:30 PM

you can go to the container store, they have gift boxes, brown boxes and all that or go to Tuesday morning and get a fancy box, like a hat box that can be used again and again

sewwhat85 07-13-2011 02:31 PM

cant you still get them at department stores like Penneys?

Good question, I don't know! Guess I could check. The quilt I am giving for the wedding present is 45x51 I haven't seen boxes big enough for it for sale at any store.

New Quilter 07-13-2011 02:38 PM

For my husband's granddaughter's baby shower I went a little wild with the gifts...couldn't find a box big enough, so I used a plastic storage tote...it made it easier for her to take the gifts home from the shower...   Naomi

If you know anyone who works at a school, the paper boxes they get supplies in are perfect for Queen quilts. Baby quilts will fit in flat rate postal boxes that are free from the post office.

NOT necessarily...acid free costs big $$$....you really need to know if it is Archival or not!

Thanks everyone ..you all came up with so good ideas that I did not think of...

love the tote one and the fancy box they wouldn't throw the box away after the shower so that would be a good thing..

Thanks again for your help :)

Stitchit123 07-13-2011 07:50 PM

The Post Office sells some really cute boxes =themes for babys =grads =B/days =holidays etc

Learner747 07-14-2011 05:16 AM

Also at the USPS are free Priority Boxes, and for sale are large white boxes which cost $3-4.

momcpo 07-14-2011 05:19 AM

Walmart has boxes, look in the "mailing/office" area.

quilt3311 07-14-2011 06:25 AM

Our "dollar type" stores have boxes for sale in assorted sizes.

jad1044 07-14-2011 07:32 AM

I used the SPiderman snow boots box my grandson's boots came in - dil was going to throw it away anyway - I snatched it up along with the boxes from other pairs of shoes bought that day - I'm down to one now -

I used the Spiderman box for two baby quilts to two new babies in my family and the family got a kick out of the box it came in - as did the UPS driver that picked it up! But, why not recycle? :)

caspharm 07-14-2011 08:09 AM

Try JoAnns or maybe Hallmark for decorated ones. However, the plastic tote idea, from Naomi, sounds like a great idea, since it can be reused.

IdahoSandy 07-14-2011 08:59 AM

Uhaul also has boxes to sell.

mshawii 07-14-2011 09:38 AM

The Container Store, carries boxes and also they have the acid free boxes and tissue paper.

Iamquilter 07-14-2011 11:25 AM

Sometimes the grocery stores have boxes that they pile up for your taking. All sizes and cut it down to fit your items.

What a great idea!!!!!!

BobbiG 07-14-2011 12:26 PM

You can get several sizes of boxes from the post office. They aren't the beautiful white ones, but they're the priority mail boxes and they're free.

I think Penneys requires a receipt for something you have purchased from them.

baskets4moo 07-14-2011 06:57 PM

I would buy boxes from the dollar store, wrap the quilt and pj's separately & then stack the boxes up like a tower & use one big ribbon/bow.

sammy89 07-14-2011 07:13 PM

set of them postoffice there free

VernaL 07-14-2011 07:34 PM

I don't know if you have a Big Lots or Tuesday Morning store where you live, but they have some nice strong beautiful gift boxes. They are more for storage, but very pretty and the Big Lots ones are pretty inexpensive. There are a lot of sizes, some good for quilts. I just made a padded photo album for my cousin's 50th wedding anniv. and I found a box that fit it just right. I don't know if either store is online.

DonnaB 07-14-2011 09:45 PM

Your general food stores always has boxes that they are happy to give away

Marvel 07-16-2011 06:41 AM

Here you can get a mailer box for free from the po and after you fancy it up after you get it in the box, well be as free with the bows as you wish.

misseva 07-18-2011 09:57 AM

I used a clear plastic tote and lined it with colored tissue paper for a shower gift. Two gifts in one.
