braided rugs
does anyone know how to make those scatter rugs using 2.5 strips of fabric? I think it would be great to use up some fabric. thanks

My quilting teacher just finished one and threatened me with making one; looking forward to it. Will try to share pattern with you when I can.

There was a thread on here a couple of months back about using shaved toothbrush to sew/crochet them. You can also use a super large crochet hook to crochet one. I've made a circular one this way. Maybe someone knows where the thread is.

I crochet these rugs, round or oval. But I just do the pattern as I go. None are ever alike.

I bought a loom from Country Threads with instruction and a video several years ago but have not made a rug yet. You work with 2 strips going over and under with each strip. I bought it to use up my stash. Ha!

Cut the strips with a "pinking shear" rotary cutting blade.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I did not know it was crochet! that won't be a problem, just thought it was braided somehow.

Donna, you can also braid them Years ago......like 40 years....I braided room size rugs from wool. I got wool clothing at the thrift store. I folded the raw edges in as I braided. I hand sewed the braid using carpet thread. Try different ways and see which method you like best.
