What a nice old maple chair. You won't be sorry. It looks very similar to one I have in the sunroom that was my DG.

Leota 01-07-2010 10:33 PM

looks like it just needs a good polish and the seat reuphostered...
I would like to change my hat to "This Old Yankee" and make one for me :D

and after

I have a chair just like that, it is white with gold trim. It is a rocker, also. I made new cushions for it out of yellow and white gingham when I was expecting my first child, 37 years ago. It could do with new cushions again, maybe someday. I plan on passing it on to my GD for her first born. I hope that is several years yet.

Wow!!! You did a wonderful job on that chair genghis khan :D:D:D I love the fabric and the detailing around the back and seat cushion :D:D:D

I had an upholstery business for 15 years. I've redone a few of these. It probably originally had the bottom upholstered w/an attached box pleated little skirt hanging down. Then there would have been a separate cushion sitting on top of that, about 4"thick w/cording on top and bottom. Then it would have probably had a separate back cushion that had little loops at the top to go around those top pieces of wood on each side and also tied on the bottom. Great chair! Sandra

well Chris, have to say, I did like the first picture, but you did a great job on re upholstering it.
I have some dining room chairs I am going to tackle in the spring.
April, I love your chair. I think it would look fantastic with the little skirt around the edge of the seat.
Oh, how I wish I had something that belonged to my grandma or my dad.
I do have my maternal gma's sewing machine. It weighs an absolute ton!
What colors are you thinking of April?
(I sure do love your cutie patootie always helping you post, too  )

I am thinking to do it as close to the original color as possible which is like a carmelly brown. I would enjoy have the sewing machine!
Thank you...I am thinking of putting a new picture of the cutie in to help me post...I just have to find a cute one :-)
