Chocolate chip cookies

The best way to cut the number of calories consumed with chocolate chip cookies:

Eat only one small one instead of two big ones!

Jingle 12-11-2012 09:12 AM

Forget it, if I am going to eat fresh homemade cookies, I am going to eat lots. I will worry about the calories later.

I once actually *tried* to OD on homemade chocolate chip cookies.

It didn't work.:p

Didn't say that's what I do!

Warm chocolate chip cookies are soooooo good! And I have never been able to stop with just ONE!

susiequilt 12-11-2012 04:37 PM

Warm homemade chocolate chip cookies give me such indigestion but I don't stop eating them!

Peckish 12-11-2012 04:38 PM

Whew I was starting to worry about you, bear!

Okay, I might have to go make some chocolate chip cookies now. And some white choc chip gingerbread cookies, which are equally as addictive. :)

bearisgray 12-11-2012 05:08 PM

The oatmeal cookie recipe on the Quaker Oatmeal box makes excellent cookies, too! Also very good while slightly warm!

cizzors 12-11-2012 06:20 PM

You guys actually wait to bake them?! I pop a cookie sheet in the oven and treat my self to two blobs of uncooked dough. Yeah, I know I shouldn't but they're just as good!

Ahem. Well, I *have* been known to zap a couple of globs in the microwave for about 20 seconds, make them all gooey and warm.... :o

bearisgray 12-11-2012 07:27 PM

I have never ever eaten raw cookie dough.

alikat110 12-11-2012 07:43 PM

Did you know that if you break a cookie into two halves all the calories fall out......

quiltingme 12-11-2012 07:51 PM

Can't eat just one... in fact, if they are in the house, they "call to me" until they are all gone!

mrs. fitz 12-12-2012 08:41 AM

To bearisgray - you don't know what you're missing. Try it just once. Praise to whomever (I think it was Ben & Jerry) invented cookie dough ice cream.

Spend 30 minutes on an exercise machine, or doing hard stuff in the yard. Then you've prepared yourself to curl up with a good book or movie for a couple of hours with fresh cookies, milk or other drink and know your metabolism is hitting those calories right out of your system. Not an ounce of guilt will be gained! Trust me!

Well.... she's probably missing the chance of getting sick from ingesting raw eggs. I love cookie dough too, but every time I popped it in my mouth I wondered if I was going to regret it.

GrandmaPeggy 12-12-2012 03:37 PM

I mixed and chilled the dough today, took a nap, then popped them into the oven. DH and I enjoyed several "hot from the oven". We did let most of them cool. Now I have pecan chocolate chip cookies, pecan shortbread cookies and snickerdoodle cookies in both the freezer for later and in the kitchen..... to be eaten "as needed". I have thyroid disease (newly diagnosed) and have been fighting the scales w/o success lately, so I decided to at least have something that tastes good to blame the extra pounds on for once. When you are focused on the cookies that you should not have, then they become an obsession that must be tamed. That is my story and I'm sticking to it!

Dragonomine 12-13-2012 05:38 AM

Your logic is flawless. But.. no. heehee

meanmom 12-13-2012 06:06 AM

I love, love all cookie dough. I know you aren't supposed to eat raw eggs but I have been doing it for years. I do ok with staying out of the cookies but can't help myself with the cookie dough. I have been trying to chew gum while I bake Christmas cookies to help me stay out of the dough. It helps because the mint taste in my mouth ruins the taste of the dough.

What a great idea!! I'll make sure to avoid chewing gum as I bake. :D :D:D

trolleystation 12-13-2012 12:11 PM

sewdamncute 12-13-2012 06:18 PM

Have you heard that if you add a package of instant pudding to your cookie
mix, they will stay soft longer? It works! I have used vanilla in most of
mine, but you could use other flavors too. They do this with cookies at
the school lunch.

I didn't know they stayed soft longer, but the recipe I have for choc chip cookies calls for pudding and I think it's the tastiest recipe I've ever tried. Now I can't wait to try the recipe I found that includes candy cane pudding (yes I actually found some at the store) and white chocolate chips, with crushed candy canes on top. Yum!

Please post the recipe - that's teasing to just TELL us about it! ;)

Nickky 12-13-2012 08:42 PM

Yes they are soo good. Also someone had a cheese cake recipe on here that used blackberrys and blackberry brandy for topping. Can someone repeat the recipe please and so do you leave the seeds in? Thanks for any help.

Ok here is the recipe I found. I have NOT tried it yet, so I can't say if it's good. I've also seen a few variations floating around, one used chocolate mint M&MS instead of candy canes and white chocolate. If you google "candy cane pudding recipe" you should be able to find a few different recipes.
