Chore Girl Apron pattern?

I'm trying to make the Chore Girl Apron and I'm stuck on the 1st step! It says to sew the tie and turn it and then "Trim 1/4" wedge off the ends" what does this mean?

Does it say to trim BEFORE turning? My first thought was you're to trim a triangle off the corners close to the seam so your corners will lay flatter.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe the ties are not supposed to be square at the ends, they're supposed to have a diagonal cut, or pointed maybe. Pictures?

i know i'm so confused. there are no pics and it says to do it after turning.

The wedge looks like a triangle, I think. They just leave a raw edge because it is cut on the bias.

really? wow.... that's scary!

I fold the tie in half lengthwise and then sew the end together like an L. Then open it up and there should be a "triangle" for the end. I'm not explaining this very well. They show how to make the triangle on the 10 minute table runner. Same principle as the end of the apron tie.

I believe the idea of folding right sides together then sewing an L seam across the end is probably right. I have an apron pattern that has that kind of ties. It is used on dresses for little girls too. It makes a much neater and firmer end. You have to finish the long sides before this step.

This is the same method used to make a pointed petal on the dresden plate
