Ok , is it just me or does anybody else have a problem with this. The mother board on my computer went out so I bought a new tower. My old computer had Windows Vista. The new has Windows 7. No written instruction booklet came with my tower. I wasn't surprised. This has been the case with every computer I've bought. Yes I know I'm supposed to learn by the videos online but I need to read and do step by step to learn. So every time I get a new computer, I've also had to go to the book store and buy a book to learn to operate my computer. As much as computers cost, you'd think they could give us an instruction book to go along with it!! Thanks for letting me vent!

When we changed to new POS software at work they had hours and hours of 'training' online that was NOT interactive and much of it narrated by a very monotone voice...only thing I found it good for was as a cure for insomnia! And if you email tech support they tell you to go to such and such training session...even if you specifically tell them that your question is not covered in the training!

This is where I hire a 14 year old. I don't do well with the on-line tutorial/video thing. I like a step-be-step procedure that I can read and follow. I think the software program manuals were doomed when so many "bugs" were found in the software codes and had to be fixed. With all the patches, some programs quit following their manuals. Oh, and the upgrades to the upgrades... Oh well, there seems to be a neverending supply of 14 year olds in the world.

I never realized there wasn't a booklet for instructions. I guess it because I like to explore and learn on my own when it comes to electronics. I have windows 7 and love it.

Yeah Windows 7! My hubby has Vista on his laptop and I refer to it as that piece of crap Toshiba - but it is not really the computer, just the operating system. Once you get into 7, you will rue the day you ever used VISTA!

(I LOVE my computer - and I name everything I love so it is my Dream Machine, my sewing machine is my Dream Weaver and my cell phone is Dream Baby! - Think I may be dreaming too much? )

There might be a pdf version in the computer, because the companies don't want to print out a book.

My previous computer was a gift from my kids who simply did not understand my obsession with Macintosh computers!! And that sorry excuse for a computer came with Vista, one of the best excuses for buying a Macintosh ever invented. I took that bad one to the computer store to have Vista removed, was told it would take less than an hour, but would take 2 weeks or so. They showed me their back storage room with lines and lines of other computers wanting Vista killed. Even with Windows, that Dell would not accept Comcast, the guy trying to put it on said some Dells were just born bad, lacked something coming from the factory. So to stop my griping my kids got me this iMac, 3 or so years ago, and I've loved it every since. I love Macs. In fact, I still have my original 1985 Mac 512, it still works, a dream with 1000 different shades of black, white and gray.

yep, i prefer a book too. not a disk. oh well, computers are done by "computer" people and they aren't into paper.

I work in computer science and they use more paper here than in any other dept. I worked in (rofl). There are .pdf versions and I, too, love Windows 7 hands down over Vista.
