How many of you spent hours as a kid with a corker? Mine was shaped into a figure of a lady. I'm interested in trying this again and would like to know if anyone has a good pattern for making the wooden part. I've checked out internet sites but I value the crafters on our site and would like any and all opinions. What have you made? Any pictures?

I think they are the same thing as spoolies, they made little knitted tubes? I had a plastic one that was pink, sized perfect for Barbie tube dresses, lol!

Corking, Knitting Nancy, Knitting Ned- all of these are terms for a type of yarn work that produces a type of knitted cording which you can fashion into hot pads, or kids soft toys, or small items like socks or infant hats. It's really really easy and kids like to do it too! Gets rid of lots of leftover yarn. A baby yarn would make an item super soft. A hardy yarn would make your item durable and hold up to wear and tear. Google Knitting Nancy and you'll see.

I remember those, I have one at home that is made of plastic but I remember the ones made of a wooden spool with 4 nails in it.

if you have an older wooden thread spool, we used as kids, should work, just hit 4 little brads (nails) in at 12,3,6,9 o'clock positions

I sure do. My aunt curled my hair with them once and I had kinky fringe all the way around my head for a week and it couldn't be combed or brushed either. They were a young girl's nightmare!
