Definitely a cheerful color!

trying painting white over it ... or a watered down white ... to soften the color.
|
Didn't you see where the B was rubbed off - it really read bright blue :) But I like that color

I think the color changes from when we get it at the store and when we put it on the walls. I was over tired and needed to get paint for my bathroom, I know I like bright colors and always tone down my choices when it comes to the walls. However, a very bright BUTTER YELLOW is way to bright for a bathroom. Had to redo it with a softer color sigh

That will really wake you up in the morning!

Maybe they meant it was light blue compared to a dark blue. It would not be a good choice for me. I use off white for all my walls, makes the house look bigger and doesn't clash with the other colors in the room. Just me.
|
I like it myself. When my kids were small we painted all their rooms and the bathrooms a bright color because it was supposed to make them happier.
|
You could tone it down by sponge painting over it in white or a lighter blue.
|
I was going to say what Purple Passion just said...this is what I would do. it's pretty easy to do, too.

Luckily, my grandson worked for over 3 years in a paint store and he can tell just by looking at the sample the actual color it will be on the walls!! Has saved me lots of time and "tired eyes"!! I also use to think using a clear white all over made the rooms seem bigger, but just learned that dark will make the walls seem to recede thereby making the room larger. He just painted my bathroom a smoky med blue and I was shocked at how much larger it looked and I LOVE the color!! And even though I didn't realize it when I chose the color, there are many current accessories available to coordiinate. Could the "new med blue" be the "new white"? LOL

looks like the strawberry pink I used in 1976...it should have read neon pink...hehe
|
i did that to my dad's bathroom yrs ago. poor fella, i just left it.

thank you all for your advice, I may do the sponging thing.... with a super pale blue or white... haven't decided yet... and I'm not ready to take on a painting project... I can handle the ridiculouse blue for a while longer...lol

I would be repainting fast !!! That happened to me in my family room with 3 taupe shades....painted it 3 times within a week to get what I was looking for.
|
Definitely helps you open those eyes in the morning.

I would try to buy a subdued color to paint over it. I had this done with a house I brought which they had painted a bright turquoise blue, so toned it down with a very, very soft blue(not turquoise). Get some paint sample strips, bring them home and pick out a good match.

:mad:I rented a house that had the bathroom walls painted picnic table green...questioned as to how they decided on that color...the owner worked for the school district & that was FREE left-over paint....I changed the color:)

I like the color. My experience is that when you paint a small room like a bathroom the color is sort of overwhelming. Give it a few days and it won't seem so bright. My husband has complained about every color I have had in the bathroom, but when a new color came along and he complained it was so much brighter than the previous color. According to him our bathroom should burn your retinas if it had actually gotten brighter each time as the first one was such a bright pink that "Ms. Piggy gave it two thumbs up."

Actually, I LOVE IT!
|
I love it! I would keep it and smile every time I was in there!
