Just one minor, little bitty thing...have him measure the width between the bars in their widest stretch.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but there should not be any spaces larger than ...well, here is what the Internet says, among other things.........

Slats should be no more than 23/8" apart (about the width of a soda can).
Corner posts should not be higher than 1/16".

That is a very beautiful crib. But I have to agree, when you are using such lovely wood, would be a shame to cover it up!!
