Did anyone else stay up for the season premiere of CSI last night? I'm not impressed with Danson's character and probably won't be following this season. I have a few seasons on dvd and will just go to my favorites when I need a CSI fix.

blondeslave 09-22-2011 01:54 AM

The show hasn't been the same since William Peterson left. I couldn't warm up to Lawrence Fishburn's character. I recorded the show last night but haven't watched it.

Interested in hearing your reaction when you are able to watch it. I agree that William Peterson was the best.

I feel the same.

Sunflower Girl 09-22-2011 02:49 AM

I probably won't be following it either, I'm not a Ted Danson fan.

charity-crafter 09-22-2011 05:13 AM

I had problems with Lawrence Fishburn's character also and stopped watching the show when he joined. Didn't even bother to watch the season opener. I am interested to see what everyone else thought and maybe I'll stay up late to watch an episode or 2 if it's better.

amandasgramma 09-22-2011 05:30 AM

I liked Fishburn's part -- but not Danson's!!! As for William Peterson's part ---- well, he was a little too odd for me!
I must have missed the last show of the season last year!!! What did Fishburn's part do that caused him to leave?

TanyaL 09-22-2011 06:15 AM

I loved Fishburn's character. Really liked the opener last night. If you have a chance to see movie Thurgood, don't miss it! One of the all time best. It is a filming of a stage tour de force that Fishburn did.

ShowMama 09-22-2011 06:30 AM

I've been watching CSI all along and have liked all the main characters. Of course, William Peterson was the best, but I have also liked Lawrence Fishburn and now Ted Danson. I think they're just making him seem kooky and eccentric to make him hard to like at first, and to offset the very troubled and serious character that Fishburn played. I'm looking forward to more with Ted Danson and think he will fit in just fine.

nativetexan 09-22-2011 06:31 AM

I caught it but not sure i'm going to keep watching it. I usually like Ted Danson but not in this part for some reason.
why did Peterson leave? ratings?

kat112000 09-22-2011 06:33 AM

I liked it.

I agree...something about his eyes that aren't right - darkness there.

hensandhollyhocks 09-22-2011 06:44 AM

I'm not normally a Ted Danson fan, but thought he played his part well. It still isn't the same, but I will give it a chance since it is one of my favorites.

QuiltingKrazy 09-22-2011 06:49 AM

I kinda watched it.... (fell asleep on the couch)
I'l give it a second watch before I make a desicion. I think
it was because his character was so different from the others.

I tend to agree with you! I like both of them. I go bored with it when Red was leading the group, so it's good to see a new boss now. I think it's best to give Ted a chance & watch a few episodes, before deciding not to like him. Peterson was great, but as I recall, he was weird at times too, especially when the show first started....

mzsooz 09-22-2011 07:15 AM

I really like Ted Danson in the part. I like his goofiness. I've weathered the changes pretty good over the years. I liked William Peterson and Laurence Fishbourne. Lived through Sara coming and going. Now Catherine Willows is leaving the show and I'm thrilled. Couldn't stand her from the beginning. They just better leave my Greg alone. He is my fav!

auntmag 09-22-2011 07:32 AM

Me neither. I quit watching CSI when Peterson left.

Catherine (Red) is leaving the show? I hadn't heard that! I like her, the actress anyway, but didn't like her leading the group last season. I really think Ted will work out well!

ditto

Boopers 09-22-2011 08:19 AM

I have been watching CSI since it first started. Seldom missed an episode. Will not be watching this year as I can't stand Ted Danson. They also changed the night and time.

I think Ted will be ok once we get used to him, I like the idea of the quirky character.
I, like every one else miss William Petersen terribly. He is a doll :!:
:)

Right here with you on this! Sarah and Grissom really made the show. Not to take anything away from Nick, Catherine did not age gracefully....

I'm going to give Ted Danson a couple more shows to see how they develop his character. I saw a few interesting things, minor things, that might develop into an interesting character. I am not a Ted Danson fan.

nativetexan 09-22-2011 12:01 PM

Catherine is Marge Helgenberger (sp)? she's had a time trying to stay young for that show. plastic surgery wasn't good early on but she improved over time. with more surgery probably. i loved her in China Beach!

I have always liked her, early on in CSI, & in other things. Just didn't think you was good in the boss roll for this show. I thought she was looking didn't different, didn't even think of her having that surgery...

Sheila_H 09-22-2011 02:32 PM

I watched it this morning and I wasn't impressed either, there was a lot of hype about him joining the show and I thought great I like him. I don't like the way his character is setup, like he's all over the map type thing. It hasn't been the same since Peterson left the show, it went too dark with Lawrence on there.

I will watch the next couple of episodes and see if anything changes.

mzsooz 09-22-2011 03:41 PM

I think they were setting up the show for the exit of Catherine (yes it has been on the news). If you notice..Ted Danson was really paying attention to Nick and it almost looked like he was the one that was going to get the boot. Ted Danson is probably having to get rid of someone and he is testing everyone. I think the show was setting the stage for the big changes in the group. Makes for exciting entertainment for me!

gale 09-23-2011 12:36 AM

We aren't even going to watch it anymore. We stuck with it last season with Lawrence Fishburne, and it was ok, but I didn't really care if we missed a week. Also the storylines started getting really ridiculous IMO.

Isn't William Petersen one of the producers? Perhaps he just wanted to retire or lessen his workload, or do other acting stints.Haven't seen Danson in it yet, but have liked all the characterisations and it was a shame that Gary Dourdan's personal issues may have stopped him from continuing in the show. I liked his character.

jolo 09-23-2011 05:18 AM

I liked TD in this role. I noticed several things that I think will happen. Agree he is looking closely at people and where he will place them in the show,Nick with more responsibilty? I think he is acting slightly buffoonish on purpose. AKA Columbo?

Para722 09-23-2011 05:30 AM

I have to agree about TEd Danson. His character is not cast well on CSI. I too will not be watching this season.

Tudey 09-23-2011 06:13 AM

I liked the quirkiness of Danson's character. I know that Catherine is probably leaving in January, so this could be an interesting season!

mhansen6 09-23-2011 06:13 AM

I keep forgeting I have a DVR on the TV in my sewing room. My husband was taping the Barrett Jackson auction last night on the TV in the family room. I have alway loved CSI.

quilter in the making 09-23-2011 06:15 AM

This used to be one of my very favorites and I stuck with it through all the changes. Not any more. I am not a Ted Danson fan and didn't like his character at all. Now I'll be searching for a new show. :(

The opener was a bust in my book. If they don't change the roll of Danson I think they are going to lose a lot of pepole watching. The show was boring and Danson looked like a fruit cake!

drella123 09-23-2011 06:23 AM

I have not really watched CSI over the last few years. I am a reallty show junkie. But I do like Ted Dansen. His character is a little quirky but I think they have to be to be able to recreat a crime scene. I think he is going to shake up the department and try to put some new spice in the old characters.

I read somewhere that he quit doing the show because he wanted to pursue stage acting. A few seasons ago he wasn't in a number of episodes because he was in a play up in the northeast somewhere.

Lucy90 09-23-2011 07:10 AM

I have watched CSI from the beginning and probably will not watch the Vegas won. Danson did not impress me and he just ruined a very good show. i wonder if there is a way to notify CBS change the lead man, Danson does not do it!!
