Hi everyone
These are the photos I took following Cyclone Yasi's visit on the 2nd February. I am sorry they are so dark, I took them about 10 in the morning but the sky was so dark and gloomy.
Wednesday the 2nd they turned the water off in the afternoon and at 8.30 that night the electricity was turned off. My DH, DS and I spent the evening checking and rechecking the house. Yasi passed over us about 10pm with winds over 200 kilometres an hour and didn't let up until after 4 in the morning. There was definitely no sleeping that night. This is what we found next morning.
We were without town water for 4 days, that I was prepared for. Our electricity was finally turned back on today 11th February at 6pm. 10 days with no power I was not prepared for.
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and good wishes.

Thinking of all you Queenslanders, we too have friends in effected areas who, thankfully, are all safe.
I hope things can get back to some kind of normal fairly soon.
Please take care.

So glad you're all safe. Spoke to best friend on Magnetic Island last week, was so relieved they were ok.
Isn't there talk of anothere on its way? Or has it changed course.

Apparently there is another building up over Fiji, think it might be time to move. Don't know if I can go through that again. I have been very edgy and teary the past few days. Hopefully that will pass. My DH had to go back to work on Wednesday and DS went back to work so I have been home alone with little phone access until today. My DS is taking me for a drive tomorrow to get out of the house. We have to buy a new TV, 28 minutes after power was restored ours blew up.

What a blessing to survive that horrible storm. Any severe storm leaves a wake and the ones that hurt the most are the aftershock of emotions. My prayers are with you for thankfulness to have survived and be able to assist those around you.

Blessings, Ruth

I am so glad you are safe and power back on .Several years ago we went through an ice storm and had no power for 5 days and it was middle of winter Luckily we had a fireplace but wound up staying with mom because of small kids. The trees were beautiful until the weight of ice started bringing them down. Please try not to get discouraged and stay safe.

Your pictures brought back memories of the destruction from tornados that I saw when I was about 10 years old. I still get very tense when the sky looks black, so I know how you must be feeling. That sense of helplessness is terrible. May God give you comfort .

Thank you for sharing pictures. Pictures are reality that words can't describe. You live in a beautiful area and it will be beautiful again once the mess is cleared. Prayers your way to be strong through the process. I would come help you if I could. Take care!
