I feel your pain my youngest lives on the lower east side and on a top floor. I asked her to come and stay with me but she said that she and her boyfriend are staying put.

Newscasters are advising anyone above the eighth floor or so to move lower because of high winds. Tell her to get going!!

We went into the city late yesterday afternoon and walked along the Hudson River. It was a perfectly gorgeous evening and people were sunbathing, roller blading, biking, picnicing, etc. Leave it to New Yorkers. We take everything in stride! So far it's dreary and raining. Don't mind being forced to stay in - just hope power doesn't go out - then maybe I can get some sewing done!

shawnan 08-27-2011 02:49 PM

My daughter is also in Brooklyn. I worry about her since she has no experience with any of this. But on the otherhand, her boyfriend seems to have it all under control. He's a good man.

Prayers for all.

Nancy

Nice pic.

My DD and SIL live in Brooklyn. I was so worried. She said they got very little rain and only a breeze. Right now they are opening windows to 65 degrees and partially sunny. Brooklyn got next to nothing. Right now in New Hampshire we are getting heavy rain bands and lots of wind.

My daughter lives there too, along with my SIL and baby granddaughter. I am terribly worried about them.

puck116 08-28-2011 07:54 AM

My son and spouse are in the heart of the city. I hope they fair well.

Roberta 08-28-2011 08:12 AM

Just received an email from my son in Brooklyn and the damage wasn't as bad as expected. I hope your daughter fared the same.

mcdaniel023 08-28-2011 10:27 AM

My daughter is fine. She was in a penthouse during the storm and said the wind was scary. She slept on the bathroom floor to get a way from the windows. She was headed back to her apartment and to check on her car.

sewnsewer2 08-28-2011 10:30 AM

I hope ya'll stay safe! It looks all too familiar to me.

Homespun 08-28-2011 10:37 AM

Neat pic--hope she is safe.

kjdavis4 08-28-2011 11:14 AM

Just heard from my son in Brooklyn. He slept through the storm and they never lost power. He weathered Katrina and Rita in Baton Rouge, so he knew what to expect. But mom feels better after hearing from him.

luvstoquilt 08-28-2011 11:15 AM

Oh, makes me homesick! I love Illinois but really miss NJ and NYC!

shirley35 08-28-2011 12:59 PM

My prayers are with you.

NancyBelly 08-28-2011 02:33 PM

Thanks so much for sharing the picture. NYC has my heart though I live in Ohio. We first visited in 2006 and have gone twice a year ever since. It is such as incredible place!

JanieH 08-28-2011 02:37 PM

Awesome picture! I swear I saw the clouds moving!

mcdaniel023 08-28-2011 04:02 PM

She takes awesome pictures. She took several more.
She also took some pictures of her bedroom. Part of the ceiling fell due to water damage. I am glad she was staying with friends.

ncredbird 08-28-2011 07:48 PM

Need to make a quilt out of that one and call it Good Night, Irene!

Great picture. Ann in TN
