Design Dye

My friend and I used our Design Dye today, and we were amazed!

Jessie decorated a tote bag (I bought her the Design Dye and plain tote bags for her birthday) with her 4 labradors, and it came out great! We used colouring pictures for the designs, and were a bit concerned about how to get the detail onto the dogs, but in the end we decided that they looked fantastic as silhouettes! Here's her tote bag:

I wanted to have a play at mixing the colours, so I went for a rainbow. I just used the red, blue and yellow sheets (and the purple sheet for the clouds), and it came out beautifully!

I did mine on a vest top that I use for jim jams!

We were both so so impressed with it! Obviously we don't know how well it washes yet, so I'm sure I'll report back once I've washed it! I would definitely buy this product again!

Looks pretty good. Have not heard of the product. Never did much fabric dying or painting.

Isn't it so much fun and without the normal mess that goes along with dyes.

I didn't know about this. Thanks.. It looks like fun and its not expensive either.

Wow, that's really interesting! I'm going to have to check that stuff out - dying fabric is appealing but the mess and all the time and labor involved is not. This looks like something that could be done quickly & easily and on a very small scale.

Thanks for sharing! Please do tell us how it fares in the wash!

The vest has now been washed, and I can now report that it did not wash well!

First of all, I left the vest overnight and it faded on it's own, with no washing, but it still looked pretty good!

Then it got washed, and it's faded even more!! Now I did get confused when I chose the vest, because I thought it needed to be cotton (could have been quilter's brain!) but when I read the instructions (after I'd used it, of course!) it suggested that it works best on polyester! So it probably is my own fault!

I am hoping that it's finished fading now! It does still look ok, just nowhere near as good as it looked initially!
