I took pics recently of some of the cross stitch samplers I have done...I have about 32 of them in my kitchen alone and many others around the house..

lallyann 08-06-2010 09:39 AM

beautiful! I don't have patience for cross stitching, but I think it is sooooo pretty!! I do crochet, and I have done a tiny bit of knitting. You can see an afghan I crocheted that I finished a couple of months in my avatar!

Jim's Gem 08-06-2010 09:40 AM

I used to do a lot of cross stitch as well. Then I went to work and have had some bad shoulder problems. I hope to be able to cross stitch again someday.
I really liked working on the Lavender and Lace Victorian Angels and ladies. I have about 15 of them done on 32 ct linen and have a bunch more of her patterns I want to do.

KellyPA 08-06-2010 09:40 AM

I cross stitch, knit, and sometimes make cards and crochet.

I've done quite a few L&L designs too - I used to sell the patterns in my shop, so stitched out the designs to show potential customers. I have also knitted, spun, crocheted, painted, you name it. I have done canvas work embroidery, minature carpet making for my dolls house, plus making furniture for it. I used to teach bobbin and needle lace too, but most of those I put to one side 10 years ago when I arrived here in favour of quilting. I began quilting in the 60's but the UK had very little available at the time, so it got put to one side.

I do all sorts of crafts from crocheting, knitting, cross stitch, needlepoint, and candle carving. Here are just a few pictures of my candles.

Jim's Gem 08-06-2010 10:20 AM

Beautiful candles!

lovequiltedstars 08-06-2010 10:23 AM

I love to cross stitch and crochet. I learned to knit about a year ago and made my first pair of baby booties, and sweater for my grandson. It took me so long to finish them, now I knit sweaters for a charity that sends them around the world to any children who needs them.

Jim's Gem 08-06-2010 10:27 AM

I used to do all kinds of crafts and sold my stuff in Craft Fairs. I quit all that when I had to go back to work about 9 years ago.

Mousie 08-06-2010 10:31 AM

I mess and gaum with other stuff besides quilting, but only get serious about the kiddy outfits and tote bags.
Quilting is my first love, now. I do have lots of plans for hand embroidering and cross stitch...if i ever stop with the fabrics.
Want to embroider on some blocks.
I will...eventually :XD:
Loved the samplers and
candlequilter...see why you picked your nickname! woo hoo!

zyxquilts 08-06-2010 10:36 AM

I paint ceramics - mostly just round trivets & cups. (Not so good on the 3D stuff, so stick to the "flat" things! LOL) I have done lots of plastic canvas needlework coasters & can crochet some. My friend that owns the ceramics shop where I paint is going to teach me how to follow a crochet pattern & I want to make some "string bags". We'll see....

ejudy 08-06-2010 10:44 AM

I love to embroidery - especially baby quilts. I also make items for a craft show i.e. potato sacks, curling iron caddy, pot holders, aprons, oven mitts, etc.

I especially love to work with fabric!

SharonAnne 08-06-2010 10:46 AM

I dabble in crocheting (made the shrug in my Avatar). Am also in the process of making thread crocheted barefoot sandals. I love those things. Used to do counted cross stitch - a lot of sweatshirts for friends and family. My grandmother taught me to tat, but I have totally lost that ability that I never really had. All thumbs with it. Want to learn to paint, but haven't done anything with that desire yet. Other hobbies are vegetable and flower gardening, although that's not really a craft. **I love the candles and am very impressed with the samplers***. Does anyone on this board tat? I think it is coming back into vogue.

Jeanniejo 08-06-2010 10:48 AM

Not since I started quilting !!!

jackkip 08-06-2010 10:51 AM

Love to sew most anything. I have made doll clothes, Dog beds, totes.

One of my most favorite hobbies was creating Stain Glass hangings. I have done several. I still have all of the equipment, just haven't been into for the last couple of years Lots of fun, but it really tears up your fingers :-o

MomtoBostonTerriers 08-06-2010 10:52 AM

Scrapbooking.

Beautiful

raptureready 08-06-2010 11:09 AM

I paint, scrapbook, sew clothing, dabble in genealogy, watercolor, embroidery, make cards, bake, make small crafts(potholders, pincushions, etc), and Prismacolor pencils. I have done candlewicking, candle making, soap making, jewelry, rock polishing, wood burning, wood carving, doll making, gardening, rug making, knitting, crocheting, macrame, etc. If it's caught my eye I've tried it.

tdgiffin 08-06-2010 11:16 AM

I crochet and make jewelry.

sunflower126 08-06-2010 12:10 PM

I do scrapbooking, cardmaking and jewelry. I can knit but get bored with it quickly. I have done counted cross stitch (too hard on my eyes now), macrame, sewing clothing & doll clothes. I'm sure over the years there have been more. I really am enjoying the quilting. I just started quilting last year when I retired.

Friendly Quilter 08-06-2010 12:36 PM

I have tried many arts and crafts through the years, but narrowed it down to the following.

I paint, knit, crochet, make rugs, landscaping and gardening I sew for my self and house. I have projects going with all those listed above. But I always have severl qilts going, I Love quilting, and all the friends I have made in quilting.

grann of 6 08-06-2010 12:36 PM

I used to do needlepoint many years ago; don't do that any more. I have knitted since I was a teen. Have sewed since I was 5. Have made wedding gowns, prom dresses, etc. I do a lot of home dec sewing for people. I do cross stitch on the embroidery machine and every Christmas I make my daughter an embroidered Santa picture. Unfortunately I never thought to take pictures of them.

Gma Cindy 08-06-2010 01:09 PM

I have recently learned how to Tat! Just what I needed..another obsession... Love it almost as much as Quilting...

sidmona 08-06-2010 01:11 PM

I do counted cross stitch, stamped cross stitch, crochet and knit but quilting is my main passion.

T-Bones mom 08-06-2010 01:31 PM

I do lots of crafts. I always said I was a jack of all trades and master of none. I have knitted, crocheted, tole painted, worked with wood, card making, counted cross stitch, and I sew everything and anything. I recently got into embrodiery. I mainly sew now because of disabilities. That is all I can handle. I make tons of purses. Haven't done the bow tucks yet. I love to quilt. I do more of that than anything.

carolejw 08-06-2010 01:46 PM

Those candles are just beautiful.

carolejw 08-06-2010 01:48 PM

The cross stitch is just beautiful. I knit and have done a quite a few items over the years. I also sew for my children (grown) and grand children. I have two more snuggies to finish for August birthdays.

SueDor 08-06-2010 01:56 PM

I have done a lot of counted cross stitch, but I find myself quilting more. Probably because the pieces are bigger and you can see the design faster.

sewnmom 08-06-2010 02:43 PM

Sue,i love your cross-stitch, but not "instant gradifaciton", to slow for me. i love to look at it and i'd love to have some but i'll stick to quilt related... but i do love your holiday cacti in first pic. what color is it? plants are my 2nd love....after that, wellllll. molly

freezeframe03 08-06-2010 02:51 PM

I've done a lot of different crafts over the years and have settled into my favorites of sewing, counted cross stitch and scrapbooking. I'll still oddball crafts when the mood strikes but the three favorites keep me happy. I'll never live long enough to do all the projects I have planned, collected and imagined.

What is tat!? :? :?

newquilter10 08-06-2010 03:10 PM

I like to sew aprons, crochet, swedish weaving, pony bead banners, Knifty knitting looms and embrodiery. I do some of the squares for quilts also.

quilter68 08-06-2010 03:10 PM

Ms Shawn,

Sort of like lace making. My GD learned it at scouts in Perkasie, PA. She didn't teach me as yet.

That sounds like me! If it caught my eye, I learned to do it. The only things that stuck are painting, quilting and I still do some crochet.....
Here is a big rug I crocheted about 20 years ago and a couple of my paintings.....

Boy, it sounds like we are all cut out of the same cloth!! Pardon that pun!!! There is not a craft out there (except tatting) that I have not tried. Some came and went, some stayed a while, and some stole my heart forever!! Those are quilting, oil and watercolor painting, and sewing garments for my grandchildren. I knit in the summer because quilting is too warm in my lap. and now I have to go make a doll quilt for that exchange...my first doll quilt. Wish me luck!

I too have done practically every new craft that has come my way over the years but now I focus on quilting, machine embroidering and working in the wood shop making signs and ink pens with DH.

GrammaNancy 08-06-2010 03:40 PM

Beautiful cross stitching. I like to embroider, sew dolls, scrapbook, make cards. A little drawing & painting. In years past did some wood crafting. Knit, some crochet. Tried some other things but usually end up back at the sewing machine.

kacy 49 08-06-2010 03:46 PM

Sorry the pictures were so big.

dyer804 08-06-2010 03:50 PM

I cross stitch also as well as sew and crochet. In fact, quilting is my newest craft.
