Since I don't live in an area where it snows much, I don't know if the post office really delivers in snowed in places. I think if it snowed here in south Louisiana we would not get our mail delivered because no vehicles around here are equiped to drive on snow and ice. How is it where you are?

Yep they do here as long as the snow isn't too deep yet or (if it is really deep) has been plowed.

I live in northern,Wi-they deliver almost always-just later when roads are bad.But we get tons of snow and are prepared

When it snows here, we only get bulk mail - like catalogs. If it is bad, we don't get regular mail for a few days. Really weird.

The post office here says our town is a "rural route" so they can pretty much set their own rules. (Even though the population is well over 50,000 and there haven't been dirt roads "in town" for at least 15 years!) There is nothing rural about it! lol

Yes they do only don't come if main hwy is closed (not too often or poor visability in bad storms or freezing rain.I worked as a visiting nurse and in 2 years none of us missed work.We have snow for 5 to 6 months of the year!

Our PO have to deliver in some of the worst weather....fog, ice, deep snow......I would NOT want to drive for the PO, esp. in my area, narrow, hilly country roads.

As long as the roads aren't closed. If the roads into town are closed due to blowing and drifting snow then we don't get any mail brought in, therefore none to deliver. However, if it's in town it gets delivered. Sometimes it's 2pm (reg. del. time is 9:30am) but we still get it. Most truck drivers and mail carriers in Central Illinois are used to driving in the snow. LOL

Now there was that time a few years ago when people didn't get their W2's because the mailman got tired of delivering and threw a couple of bags of mail into the river...... he doesn't work for the post office anymore.............

Yes and no if they can get up our steep hill yes if not no.

They are required to deliver the mail unless the roads are not passable. Safety is a high priority too. Mostly it just depends on whether or not they can succesfully navigate the roads based on the conditions.

I have never heard of any office being able to make their own rules. Only the district is allowed to do that. Any boxes that the carrier is not able to deliver to must be reported to the district.
