Hello, to everyone, and to the NEW MEMBERS.. I think I mentioned this a couple months ago, but not sure. My military son Aaron, was in Mississippi, for some training, and then went to California/for training..His wife,&baby came over the other day, after, driving down to Miss, and driving back. To make a story short, she came over to tell us, when he got to California, his military group, will be sent or on there way to Afghanistan. I dont have no ideal if hes here or there. His wife told us for security reason, they(the military), wont say any thing. So the 3 of us & grdbaby dont know nothing.(Me & wife, and dghterinlaw, grdbaby). We have 1 year, to 15 months, to keep it together. As for me now, I'm trying to hold back my tears, but will on occassion keeps yous posted. Take care everyone-Don

Don,
I don't know about your son's exact situation or what his branch or MOS is but I would bet once he gets in country he will be in contact with you guys. My husband just returned from a deployment and while he was in transit I didn't know where he was or any details but once he was in country I heard from him fairly regular. Deployments are so hard on the families, harder than on the soldier my husband says. I''ll pray your son is safe while deployed and that he'll return home to you all safe.

God bless,
Shannon

I know it is hard on the whole family but keep your spirits up. Take care of your DIL and that beautiful grandbaby. So many people will be praying for your whole family. God bless!

Your son will be in contact with you , don't worry. He will be able to call home free, should have access to e-mail too. My DH is retired military, and a civilian contractor. He was able to keep in touch regularly. Make sure you keep the care packages going out to him, it will mean the world to him. If you can send extras in his care packages for the men who won't get any. They always share with each other. Pictures and videos of the baby's progress will be special also. Most importantly, keep your chin up and hug each other. As a family you can get through anything.

Don,
Hugs and prayers for you all. Hang in there. You must be so proud of him. Thanks to your son for his service and all of you for the sacrifice you are making.

Don, I'm sure you are still in shock. But it WILL get better, as those of us who have been through many of these types of deployments have learned.

Please be sure to tell us here on the board - preferably in a new topic so we'll be sure to find it - where he finally ends up. The Military Barracks Quilt Project, which is a working group on this board, is particularly aimed at one group in Farah, (western) Afghanistan. We want to follow your DS in case he is nearby and we can "cover him with hugs" too.

Not only that, we have a lot of suggestions for care packages to that area for when you are ready to ship them. You might even start getting a box together now, ready to go out the day you have a good address; packages can take up to 3 weeks to arrive there.

Please keep us posted as soon as you hear anything.
Chin up, Dad; he is already covered with prayer.
