While my daughter and her family were here on vacation, we were hiking at the dunes at White Sands (NM). Our grandson (aged 2) had so much fun running up and down the (gypsum) sand, as did our son-in-law! Maybe we should have brought a sled to go down the dunes ... next time!

OMG! My husband was stationed at WSMR in early 70'S, this brings back such memories. I don't remember there being vegetation on the dunes back then. I will have to get my old pictures out and look at them. I really loved living there.

yes, who would have thought we had sand dunes inland? I've been there too.

I've gone out there with cardboard boxes. It's a blast!
