Another great tip -- trust your instincts! IF something feels "off" about the situation you are in, it probably is. Women are conditioned to help and nuture, so if someone asks for assistance we probably go out of our way to help them. This can be a good thing if someone needs help. If your instincts are alarming you, trust that feeling and go the other way, even if you are not being helpful or "liked".

Excellent tips. Something I advised my recently widowed mother to do was get security for her electricity meter. This was reasonably inexpensive and involved a guy coming over and fitting a security lock and an unbreakable viewing window. The meter reader can see the meter clearly without opening the box and no-one can disconnect the electricity.

I always lock my car doors when going anywhere (I have had 2 experiences where people tried to open my car doors whilst I was stopped at traffic lights). When walking around the shops or to and from carparks I carry my car keys in my hand and spread out between my fingers (bit like brass knuckles) running is always the best option, but if you can't the keys are a handy weapon....and ladies don't ever be afraid to go for the eyes...it could save your life. I learned this from my step-father, who served in both the Military and regular police service.
