Finally, a garage sale score!

I found a listing for a garage sale on my local Craigslist yesterday. It was titled "Sewer's Dream Sale". I've been on a fabric diet but thought I could score a good deal on zippers so off I went. Oh, my! The seller's MIL had passed away and she had worked at Joann's for over 15 years. There was so much fabric, I tried to restrain myself. There were no scraps, everything was a 1 yd cut or more. I made my selections and took them to pay. The lady said $20, I said "No Problem!" I brought them home and washed and ruler folded them. Each fabric that I chose was 3 yards all the way up to 8 yards. The last light blue fabric on the right is an 8 yard cut of flannel. I measured and I got 70+ yards of fabric for $20!!! The last picture is the four fabrics that are my favorites out of the whole lot!

Wish there were garage sales like that in South Dakota. - Oh wait - when I die there probably will be one consisting of all my fabric. Back to the sewing room to use up some more!

I used to think my stash would look like this when I died but after seeing what "too much" looks like in person, I'm pretty sure mine can fit into a van or maybe a van and an SUV. Or maybe a van, SUV and a midsize car. Oh, hell let's just get a moving truck!!!

Wow that's a great haul! Congrats!

QuESTION: is the fabric all the way on the left Tourquoise or Teal? What manufacturer is it?

Thanks
Nan

They had a basket of about 30-40 zippers and they wanted $35 dollars for it. about half of them were ones that had been removed from an article of clothing (upcycled - which is okay in my book!) They wouldn't come down in the price so I opted for the fabric instead of the zippers!

SandySews 05-07-2013 04:42 AM

Sometimes you have to go off your diet. At least there are no calories to count and it won't raise your cholesterol levels. probably really lowered your blood pressure. Where else are you going to get that much fabric for less than $.30 a yard? Nothing like making out like a "FAT RAT" as my father used to say.

jbj137 05-07-2013 08:36 AM
