Fires in Fort Collins

I'm thinking about our members in Colorado near the Fort Collins fires, sending well wishes and prayers.

My DD way south in Colorado Springs says they have low visibility over the mountains and heavy smell of smoke there, that far away. The fires grew from 8000 to over 20,00 acres in ONE day, it's a truly horrific situation.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about that! Too reminiscent of the ones in my area last summer. Fires are NASTY!!!

I hope everyone is safe. The sad thing about it is that there are more fires coming becasue of the climate change.

And, due to mismanagment of the forests.

The fire has grown to about 43,000 acres (3rd largest in Colorado history). They have added extra firemen to fight the blaze, I believe that number is now 500 firefighters. Very little containment, but it's better than the no containment that was reported yesterday. I live in Colorado Springs also, and it is very hazy toward the mountains. So far, 1 death and over 100 buildings burned. Praying for all who live near the fire as well as all the firefighters fighting the blaze.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by these fires. Hope they are contained soon and extinguished.

I can smell the smoke and every day we have the fighter planes going over our house after re-filling at the small airport near us. We are about one hour South of Ft.Collins and the fires are just West of there. Denver, which is South of us, gets more smoke problems than we do for some reason.

My nephew Mark's neighbor's house and outbuildings are gone. Mark is safe in town, and has not been up to see if he has anything left. His neighbor said the fire was heading Mark's direction and he didn't think Mark's house would be left after the fire. We are awaiting word and sending a contribution for those who lost everything. No one can go up to see their property yet.

My son drove thru on his way to WY earlier in the week and saw the smoke. Called me to look it up and see what was going on. He started coughing as he drove through talking to me. It immediately made his asthma act up. He said it was horible. I read there were 1800 structures destroyed. Such a pretty area too.
