do you wear sleeveless? I can't stand having my floppy arms flying in the breeze looks like I am a pelican about to take off and I can't stand seeing it on other women terrible I know. Why don't they make shirts with longer sleeves than those little quarter length things. Oh well when those terrible storms blew winds 60 mph I thought they were going to catch me and fly me away
ROFL. I don't wear sleeveless because I don't like sticking to myself in the heat.

Better to have floppy arms than no arms - - -
But mine are more flappy than floppy - - |
They do make shirts with longer sleeves, they are called 3/4 sleeves.
I have my Grandmother's arms... I don't look good, but I have come to the conclusion that most of the others don't either.
I will only wear shorts at home...but, I will wear a decent tank top....I'm not going to suffer in the heat because someone doesn't want to look at my wiggly arms. |

Well said! I feel the same way! |
for years i kept my ggd.from age 1 thru 5.every day she came and set on my lap and massaged my flappy armes.she'd say grandma i want arms just like yours.love that girl!!!!
They do make 3/4 sleeves, but very, very few. I will not go sleeveless in public. Shorts only at home alone. I also wish they would make more shirts with sleeves. I have those horrible walmart pictures on my mind.
Neve could understand why women, as much lifting , pushing and pulling and wiping we have had to do for years, don't have tight arms instead of flab! I hate to be sleeveless, even around home!
I agree !!! I don't want 3/4 sleeves in the summer !!! Just a longer, short sleeve!!
I don't wear sleeveless anything any more. I have "bat wings".
Well, the Lord blessed me with skinny arms and legs, but the belly and love handle area are a whole different story, they are floppy and flappy lol
when you wave goodbye, your arms keep on waving...
Add a couple inches of pretty fabric trim to your sleeves. I live in t shirts so it is not a problem for me.
I have some "sheer" floral print blouse's that I wear over tanks just to hide the "swing".

I have wondered for years why t-shirts do not have longer sleeves unless you by men's shirts...I too have the floppy arm thingie...lol...but the rest of me is more than chubby enough to make me well-grounded in a wind storm...lol    Naomi

I've given up sleeveless tops, they make me feel self conscious. (yes, floppy arm thingy)
Plus to add insult to injury, I got a bad spider bite this past winter which has left a disgusting looking scar plus dent in one arm. (Oh, vanity, thy name is woman  ) |
I agree 100% it is almost impossible to find one with longer sleeves. The fashion industry always buy for the slender young women cause they know that they will buy the most clothing.
Yup--me, too. I inherited the floppy-arm genes from my mother's side of the family--who also had "bosoms" that looked to be stuffed with the entire contents of a feather bed. As a child, I'd just look at them and wonder when do they get those. Actually, I entertain my gk's with rides-hanging off om floppy arms--"Hang on now, kids, we'll do a loop-de-loop!"
When shopping for tops, I'm always searching for the longer filmy butterfly-type sleeves--not the easiest things to find but well worth the search! |
I have floppy arms and cottage cheese thighs, but I wear shorts and tank tops in the summer. I have reached the age that I don't care what people think about me. I feel comfortable, so people will have to be careful to not get hit by my floppy arms.

i've got a top on now that isn't flattering to my arms. sort of cap sleeves. not my normal style i can tell you.
my arms are not that floppy, but i still don't go sleeveless in public. like others here, i wish there were more longer sleeves. in fact, i have psoriasis that is not completely helped medically, so i prefer 3/4 length to cover the elbows. i have been known to knit my own cotton sweaters to achieve that.
When I was a child I used to tease my Grandma about her upside down muscles- now I have them. Not as funny as when Grandma had them. I guess what goes around comes around.
i can find tops with sleeves but trying to find summer dresses with sleeves is really rare. they are either sleeveless or long sleeves. I like to wear dresses in the summer but finding them is something else.
I have never figured out why women get arms like this. Mine are getting floppier every year and I hate it. Where does all that extra skin come from? My arms were never that fat that they should have that much skin on them!
Try being 5'5 and 110lbs (I look thinner-no one believes I weigh over 100 lbs). I never wore tanks when I was younger because I was so thin. Now at 48 and 8 yrs into menopause, I've gain only a couple lbs and don't give a rip what other people think. I won't wear spahgetti straps because of the bony shoulders.
As far as the flapping, yeah, I've got that going. I was told that men have 3 muscles and we only have 2 and it's the bottom one we're missing. Would love to know a quick way to firm up-alot. |
Lands End has shirts with elbow length sleeves. I have seen them other places, but have only bought one from Lands End. I love it. It's just the right length. Some places call them half sleeve. They are a little bit cooler than the 3/4 sleeve shirts.

I call mine 'water wings'

I agree with the pelican analogy! I also have an ugly skin tag under my right flap that I keep hidden!
Even young girls have that flap going on, just watch the royalty in a parade waving! May not be as bad as some of ours, but it flaps......poor girls do not have any idea what their arms will look like in 20 years....I'm going to tell them.
Oh, I've reached that stage, too. I play in a handbell choir at church, and when we were discussing tops to wear for performances, someone made the comment that we need to wear 3/4 sleeves so we don't distract the congregation with the flapping!   We always wear sleeves now.
My granddaughter calls them "wattles", like the fleshy growth hanging from the head or neck of chickens. They are the great equalizer. I get great comfort in knowing that all the snippy "in crowd" girls in high school that didn't have time to say hello to me have them also and are probably bothered by them more than I am.

LOL!! My angel wings can use a little longer sleeve also.
When I first noticed mine, I thought WOW! I'm turning into an angel! Must be because I'm getting wings! I don't care whether anyone else wants to see the flapping or not...if I go to the trouble to shave my pits....I'm going sleeveless!
I tell everyone that they are the buds for my angel wings.
