Our family wasn't able to have our usual Fourth of July celebration this year -- some had to work and others were out of town. But my 12-year-old granddaughter and I bought a big seedless watermelon at Wal-Mart, made bacon/tomato sandwiches using fresh tomatoes from our garden, and had our own celebration. This was the first seedless melon I've purchased -- it was delicious. How did you celebrate?

Sounds like my kind of celebration.

Just my parents, sister Dawn and our respective canine babies. And it did include a yummy seedless watermelon!

Kept away from those mean fireworks that scare the furry ones.

BBQ with our small family - even with four generations we total 8! Then took the young ones to watch fireworks nearby. Watched from the back of SIL's pickup truck.

And yes - watermelon! Seedless and fresh from a local garden.

Only professional fireworks around here - burn ban and fireworks not sold.

We celebrated by cleaning up the neighbor's master bathroom (we're watching their house while they are on a 3 month RV trip) after a massive monsoon rain storm caused a pretty major leak in the ceiling. Also had to sop up lots of wet carpet around doors and windows due to the rain. Not my most favorite way to celebrate the 4th. Well, at least it beat cleaning up the freezer full of meat that thawed in their laundry room last week when their freezer failed (lots of smelly meat and liquid "ugh" on the floor). Don't think we'll be doing any more house watching in the future!

12 of us - we ate sandwiches, potato salad, chips, watermelon and grapes, fried chicken, chips and brownies. We played poker and watched fireworks.

11 of our family...it's small, too. Cookout with homemade ice cream and watermelon (not seedless) but delicious! Didn't go watch fireworks this year. Just chatted and caught up on each other!

I rode on the Red Hatter's float along with the other Red Hat ladies, our float took 2nd place in the parade!! The fire dept my son volunteers for won 1st place for their float. They did a tribute to 9-11 with "twin towers" on their float. My 4 yr old grandson got to ride on the float with Daddy...in his fire boots and hat. It was alot of fun. Afterward our local Lion's club did their annual BBQ and the Chamber of Commerce did it's annual auction. It was a good day of fun, food and getting sunburned *L* Hope all of you had a good day too. crafty_linda_b

Went to a friends birthday party (took him a patriotic table topper quilt) then came home for a nap. Watched fireworks from our patio. It was a good day.
