Funny...which Generation are You???

1 Attachment(s)
OK, Boys and Girls,
- People born before 1946 were called The Silent generation.
- People born between 1946 and 1964. are called The Baby Boomers.
- People born between 1965 and 1979 are Generation X.
- And people born between 1980 and 2010 are calledGeneration Y.

Why do we call the last group Generation Y? Well .. . .

Y should I get a job?
Y should I leave home and find my own place?
Y should I get a car when I can borrow yours?
Y should I grow up?
Y should I clean my room?
Y should I wash and iron my own clothes?
Y should I buy any food?
Y should I care what you old folks think?
But a cartoonist explains it VERY eloquently in this picture.

AND THERE YOU GO!!

they tend to like X,Y and Z now a days. i always wonder what will they use after ZZZZZ?
i recently saw a young man with pants like that. with his Mom, getting his hair cut. at least after he sat down he'd pulled his pants up when he got up again. ugh!!!

Love it!! I'm a baby boomer with a son from the x generation and one from the Y generation. Our Y generation son moved back with us for the third time but this time I let him know I have no problem kicking him out if it doesn't work.
So far he's been trying to be a descent roomate.

Silent? My generation silent??! I beg to differ!

We invented the computer, sent a man to the moon, raised families that stayed raised, started 'women's lib', ran the first woman for vice president, shortened our skirts waaaay above the knee, burned our bras, joined the military, started multi-million dollar companies, were widely recognized for our best-selling books, etc., etc. etc. And I, personally, have rarely been known to fail to voice my opinion, LOL!

Sewfine 12-10-2012 11:14 AM

That is so true. I am a baby boomer.

onthemove 12-11-2012 04:22 AM

Funny! I am a baby boomer.

I agree Jan,, I was born in 1952 so am a baby boomer and considering my mom had 10 kids out of 13 survive I would say she contributed to the boom. I have to laugh at kids who think we have no idea what is going on because we are "old" I look at them and ask Ever heard of Woodstock? And yes the generation before me and my generation sure changed the world.

catmcclure 12-11-2012 05:56 AM

I'm the Silent generation; although my husband and family would violently disagree with that as I am never silent about anything. I have a Baby Boomer child, a Generation X child and a Generation Y child.

Stitchit123 12-11-2012 06:11 AM

Baby Boomer with an X Generation son. Oh yea I'm the crazy lady yelling out the car window ''Pull Up Your Pants'' and I have been known to ask one or two if they wanted me to call child protection on their behalf for it must be embarrassing to have to go out in public dressed this way and a good parent would buy them decent cloths. While shopping in Cleveland Ohio one of the major store chains had a sign on entrance----IF YOUR PANTS ARE DOWN--TURN AROUND with examples one like the above pic and the other with pants pulled up..

From another born before 1946, I agree with Jan.

nancyw 12-11-2012 06:26 AM

Me I'm a Silent generation barely- DEC 1945. I have a Generation X son and two generation Y granddaughters.
And my Mother said I didn't start talking until 2 years old but I haven't shut up since!!!

maryb119 12-11-2012 06:59 AM

I am a baby boomer. I remember when "women's Lib" was stared....what a joke! All you had to do was marry an Iowa farmer and you were liberated enough to work right along beside him on the farm!

I have kids in the Generation X and Y.

solstice3 12-11-2012 07:27 AM

I am in the baby boomer class. I agree with the Y (why?) generation examples, and with that said, I think I am actually in the "because I said so!" generation. :-)

From another born before 1946, I agree with Jan.

I thought the quiet generation referred to the 1950's folks who went along with the crowd...women dressed in high heels to cook dinner, served cocktails to her neighbors, obeyed without discussion! Stepford wife type....Not that my mother was anything like that!

Maybe you pre 46'ers just can't remember that stuff....{{{giggle}}}

MimiBug123 12-11-2012 08:24 AM

Love this! I'm a baby boomer. Stitchit123, I so agree with you. My adult children and my teenage grands walk away from me when when I tell young men with droopy drawers, "Look, if I wanted to see underwear, I'd go home and do laundry. Since I'm here, that should tell you I don't want to do laundry or see drawers. Pull your pants up!" Now why in the world would my own DC and DGD find that embarrassing????

EllieGirl 12-11-2012 08:56 AM

I'm a baby boomer and proud of it! I have two daughters that are gen X. I'm a retired middle school/special Ed teacher and the cartoon made me think of former students. I kept zip ties in my cabinets and the boys knew if they walked around like that I would hook a tie through their belt loops and the only way they could get it off was to cut it with a scissors.

BellaBoo 12-11-2012 09:13 AM

I rather see the droopy pants and wild hair then the tattoos and piercing. The clothing styles and hair will go away when it comes time to be taken seriously. Reminds me of my niece who is living with me. At age 16 she wanted her belly button pierced. No. She wanted her nose pierced. NO. She wanted a tattoo. NO. She said what can I do!!!! I told her she could dye her hair any and all colors or shave her head. That would make all the statements she needed to make as a teenager. She dyed her hair jet black, wore heavy eye make up, she looked like Mortisha Munster. That lasted until she wanted a part time job and kids that looked presentable were getting hired before her. One employer told her she would scare the kids and his grandmother. LOL.

linhawk 12-11-2012 09:27 AM

haa, there was a man outside the grocery store asking us to sign a petition. He had on pants like that.
I was shocked and screamed OMG I see your crack. Wonder if he wore pants like that again.
I'm supposed to be the silent generation. I think not. ;-)

You said it all!

nanOmint 12-11-2012 01:06 PM

I am prior to 1940. I get the distinct impression that many of the younger generations want us to BE SILENT

katesnanna 12-11-2012 04:43 PM

Elaine, that is absolutely brilliant. Thanks for the laugh.

Maralyn 12-13-2012 03:41 PM

Watching someone with their low pants walking made me laugh so hard I almost choked! Makes me want to grab a belt loop and watch them trip and see if it wakes them up. I like the sign in the store - we need to stand up for decency.

My parents added to the boom with five children born from 1946 to 1962.

damaquilts 12-13-2012 04:42 PM

I use to tell kids in the store that if they came in like that I was going to show my granny panties and see how they liked looking at those. I had to be nicer when I was volunteering I would just tell them if they were going to show their boxers they needed to be prettier.
