Garlic and Tulip Trees
Last year I let my garlic go to seed and gave away a bunch of the bulbils (seeds which are like mini-bulbs) to folks here on the forum.
I'd love to know how you made out with your garlic this year. I also adopted out some tulip trees, and would like to hear how those made out too... especially with our dry, dry season. |
What a combination ... garlic with tulip trees! :)

Wish I could have gotten some garlic seed.

Tulip trees?????

Funny! When I read the title I was excited to find out about a garlic tree.:D It takes a couple of years here to get decent size garlic in my garden. It is so inexpensive in the grocery store, I just buy it. I love Tulip trees but we seem to always get a warm spell here in the spring and then a cold spell that wipes them out.

I'd love to see those pictures as well. Good for you to help in giving the gifts of the garlic and tulips. It is cold and rainy with temp rarely above 64 here year round. Tulips flurish here. I keep asking hubby to get some. Maybe this year he will.

Regarding using garlic you buy in the grocery for growing, do not use stoe bought. It has been treated with a chemical to retard sprouting. Go to a website that sells seeds for gardening and flowers , you can buy garlic bulbs for growing your own garlic. Here is a website for the US:www.parkseeds.com I have no monetary interest in this site but it is one I have bought from in the past and the quality of the seeds and plants is top notch.

Might want to first find out what kind of 'tulip tree'
It could be Magnolia, as has already been mentioned, but I have a Tulip Tree, Liriodendron tulipifera When I google 'tulip tree' I get the images for both https://www.google.com/search?q=%22t...w=1280&bih=900 (hope that works) |
I have two Tulip Magnolia trees in my yard. One is getting fairly big. The other one is planted under the branches of an oak tree so I don't think it is going to get very large anytime soon. They were here when I bought the house. I love the fragrance of the flowers.
